Is that why we won't leave LBMS?

Then why did we stop that approach after Norvell?

had we not been going to a NY6 game, I think it may have played out differently in terms of coaching search. The AD was likely worried about continuity among the players/coaches.

I think that is a very good point. I thought it was a reasonable decision at the time and supported it.

I'd still like to see a turn-around season this year. If not, we move on.

agree. his seat gets pretty warm if we're unable to win 8+ games and in the top 4 in the conference.

I think the jury is still out on Silverfield. But yes it was a head scratcher to not use the same method that got us the previous two coaches

I really like CRS and I think he is going to have a season this year that ends everyone's doubts about him.

I really hope you're correct. While he came into a far better situation that Pastner, they have similar qualities that most people are drawn to, including recruits. I just hope CRS can get the job done, which is winning ball games. He seems to be doing well recruiting, like Pastner, but wins are what matters, no matter how likeable you are!

It isn't a head scratcher, he was more or less the coach in waiting. IF there was a great candidate available, I'm sure we would have hired him, there wasn't, so the admin stuck with the plan.

We wouldn't know because we didn't follow the same search approach.

IIRC, I believe they said there was a national search done. I'm sure it wasn't nearly as extensive as the two done for Fuente and Norvell though.

Don't know who "they" are but the natl search firm we had used to find Fuente & Norvell was not used to find Norvell's successor.

I apologize, it was CRS that made the mention of the University doing a national search for Norvell's successor, not anyone affiliated with the search. There were mentions of other interviews, but that would lead me to believe that interviews outside of the program/city were done, making it "technically" a national search. But doubt it was nearly as thorough of as search as the Fuente/Norvell capacity. I do think it was foolish of them not to go with the same firm that found Norvell/Fuente, but maybe they we're too wrapped up in the looming Cotton Bowl to see much past that.
