I think they do that to try and bolster the new guys. Would also bring more news and attention to those games. I think the Big XII would love it if any of BYU/UH/UCF/Cincy were able to beat UT/OU before they get out the door, and that's more likely to happen at home vice away.

I don't know what the Big 12 will actually do, but the most vindictive thing is either to send them where they will not make money, or give them the most challenging with the most opportunities to lose.

I'd be shocked if OU & UT don't have the toughest possible schedules in 2023.
