We have not won a regular season title in the Sun Belt or a postseason championship. I will feel better about the basketball program when we make it to the NCAA tournament or NIT tournament. As for football, I remember in the 70's, when both Tarleton and the Bobcats were in the Lone Star conference. Tarleton used to be an easy win in those days. I am not sure that would be true today, not with our football program.

Look at where we were when we joined the Sun Belt. We were terrible at basketball. Now we're probably a top 4 program. We shouldve beat Arkansas in 18 and #2 Baylor last year holding leads against both late in those games. We've come a long way, but youre right we need to turn those into wins. I wish we had a stronger schedule too but I wouldnt wanna play us either if i were most P5s.

We need to beat a power conference school. We need to recruit a little bit better. We need to become a top 100 basketball school. If we are a top four team in the Sun Belt, what does that mean compared to other conferences? Could we beat NMSU? How about GCU or CBU? I like Danny Kaspar. He is a very good defensive coach and the Bobcats play competitive basketball. But I don't think we are getting the talent that NMSU or GCU or CBU are getting.

We need some better talent to separate from the rest of the Sun Belt and we need to upgrade the nonconference schedule. We should not be losing nonconference games to UTSA and Air Force, like we did last season. I am hopeful about Bobcat basketball, but we are not quite there yet. Oh, and how about getting a home-and-home with NMSU for basketball?

I would love to get a home and home with you guys. It would be good for both schools as a gauging tool to see where both schools stand.
