That's a big investment in a coach with some good achievements (18-9 overall record) but also some significant question marks (blowout losses in 3 bowl/conference title games). A close look at his record leaves me to believe that he is very good at beating bad teams - not a slap, btw, that is an underrated ability - but struggles against those at the same level.

So IMO this kind of investment is a risky one, but hey, nothing ventured nothing gained.
