RE: Most hated teams in college football
Its okay for every other school to decide for themselves what is in their best interests, except apparently ND.

Syracuse and Pitt leave the Big East for the ACC? Cool.

Missouri decides that leaving the Big 12 for the SEC is great for them? Good for them.

Rutgers leaving the AAC/Big East and joining the Big Ten ? What a great move.

Texas A&M leaving the Big 12 and moving to the SEC ? Wow, nice.

Army leaving CUSA to again be a football independent? Understandable.

Notre Dame deciding that football independence is in their best interests?

The arrogant, lousy ba$tards !!! They need to reject what they think is their best option and conform (against their will) to what we want. How dare they act in their own perceived best interests!!!

People think that ND should select something that they don't want and think is the lesser option for them just so everything is all nice and neat.

(How many times have fans of other schools said about events...."THIS will finally FORCE (operative word) Notre Dame football into a conference.")

It is like they think that God ordained that every school had to play football in a conference, or something. There is no Divine Mandate for a cookie cutter, one size fits all setup.

Football conference membership is merely a business decision, nothing more. A possible temporary one at that, given all the conference realignment moves.

In reality, today it is mostly driven by the desire to make the most TV money. ND is not as dependent on TV dollar payouts as many other schools.

There used to be lots and lots of football independents for decades. That changed because, for those schools, conference membership was the wiser business decision.

For ND, that merely is not the case. It has the NBC contract, no local recruiting base, a non-regional fan base spread out across America and a desire to play (and recruit) all over the country.

ND did not put a gun to the heads of the Big East in 1995 and the ACC in 2012 to offer ND a non-football conference membership. Those entities made voluntary business decisions in their own best interests, too.

Self determination and choice is great for everyone but ND, I guess.
