They just built a new gym. A nice one:

But it's not D1 sized, even with the possible expansion. So they'd have to scrap their new gym to build a proper arena, and I don't see that happening. Not for a few decades at least. There are way better D1 candidates in the CCAA than San Marcos.

They say they just need money to do that. Well, that's the case with any CSU athletics program.

The comment about getting better athletes is a joke. Saia and the other coaches got some great athletes back in the NAIA, and this year they barely got past former conference mate San Diego Christian, a perennial cellar dweller and currently 7-14. When Saia was coach, he'd have wiped the floor with them.
