What -- IF ANY -- proof do you have for this theory?
How do you know what is "best for the player or what the player prefers"? Maybe some of these kids want to go where it's warmer, maybe they're interested in a major and the out-of-state school has a stronger rep in that area, maybe there's a connection you're not aware of. Contending that "the coaches in Chicago" "actively push kids away from schools like NIU or Northwestern or DePaul" sounds more like prejudice on your part. In reality, there are more than a few NIU alums coaching various high school sports who say some Huskie coaches are not receptive when they simply suggest someone should take a look at their athlete.
We all want the Huskies to be successful, but but this type of "conspiracy" thinking is very naive.
This is a pretty well known fact if you follow college basketball at all. Coach k, self, Calipari, have kissed or paid off the right asses to get a seat at the table. Local schools are shut out. It's like old school machine politics in the public league.
Yea, I've heard that also, from somebody closely related to a division I coach.
