Those institutions will use the NCAA to modify the rules to make it easier for their schools by putting restrictions on Clemson and Alabama (scholarship reduction/redshirt rules/staff, etc).

Well I'm already on record in favor of reducing the scholarships/roster down to 65 players anyway (for more parity, and to save costs), so if that happens, I'm fine with it.

If you want parity, then abolish all athletic grants-in-aid. Draw your football talent from students who have matriculated solely on the basis of academic merit. All sports would be club sports, and participants would pay activity fees and derive benefit as they would from any other extra-curricular activity -- kind of like high school sports.

Let the NFL create its own development league(s) for guys who are more interested in playing football than earning a degree in a recognized academic discipline (just think, no more special studies students with undeclared majors taking faux classes).

And finally, tell the networks to take their influence and money and stuff them where the Sun don't shine.

There are people working with those goals in mind

ABOUT THE KNIGHT COMMISSION
The Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics is guided by the following principles:
Athlete health, safety and well-being must be a guiding imperative.
The educational experience and outcomes of college athletes must be paramount.
Institutions and their associations must demonstrate fiscal responsibility and prioritize athlete health and safety, athlete education and campus academics in the allocation of athletics revenues.
The governance of associations must demonstrate integrity, advance the educational missions of institutions and the well-being of college athletes and share voting power with college athletes.
Mission
The Knight Commission was formed by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation in October 1989 to promote reforms that support and strengthen the educational mission of college sports.

Idealistic from its inception whose cause was not helped by the individual actions of many of its active members (those who were active university presidents or active heads of statewide systems) during their respective tenures, most notably on the ACC side - Shalala and Kirwan.

Cheers,
Neil
