The last season of Arena?
The AFL playoff is underway. It's a two game CUMULATIVE score system. There are only four teams left in the AFL. Five if you count Cleveland, which is on a two year hiatus while the Cavaliers build a new venue.

All the "name" ownership groups are largely gone. The last holdout with a name behind them is Ron Jaworski, owner of the Philadelphia Soul and largely the tent pole keeping things up.

Now I think AFL won't go away entirely. The name and assets have value. It just may take a bankruptcy to go get that value. But they need the following large scale changes at a minimum:

- Shred the CBA between the players and teams ... it was written at the height of the AFL boom when they had AF2.

- Start adding teams in Top 50 media markets that have NO competition in them. Sacramento. Raleigh. Portland. Hartford. Columbus, OH. Salt Lake City. Greenville, SC. Oklahoma City. Norfolk. Birmingham. Etc.

- Get owners who have business sense and local connections .... not owners who are celebrities with big checkbooks and short attention spans.
