Off Topic - NBA and NHL Playoffs
I suspect the media partners for the NHL and NBA can't be too thrilled about their four conference final series. The remaining teams aren't exactly in your premium markets. The remaining cities:

Portland
Sacramento
Toronto
Milwaukee
Boston
Raleigh
San Jose
Denver

They're all respectable cities and franchises, but I'm not feeling the excitement from the media.

Simpletons in suits sweating it out is a wonderful thing. I can't think of anything more uninspiring than a playoffs with Boston, New York, Chicago, & LA.

Sacramento is not in the NBA playoffs. It is Golden State and they represent the San Francisco - Oakland Bay Area, a very good market and obviously, a very good team. The San Jose Sharks are part of the same market. The Boston Bruins are one of the original six and their market is a top ten market. They bring a market and a brand.

It might be a concern if Portland is playing in the NBA finals against Milwaukee and Carolina is playing Colorado in the NHL Stanley Cup finals. The NBA would probably play up the star power of Giannis and Damian Lillard. The NHL would be a tougher sell.

If the leagues don’t want these small markets in finals, don’t give them franchises.

That's the media's fault, and the league's fault for allowing the oversaturation of coverage on only big market teams.

If all franchises were featured based on performance, not just media markets, people would know the abilities and stars on these teams.

NHL Final Four:
San Jose/SF
St. Louis
Raleigh
Boston

No Denver there, although they had a team in each league ALMOST make it

It's not that bad. Nielsen markets and number of TV homes in each market:

Good Point:

NBA Final Four

Oakland/SF #8 market, 2.4 million TV homes
Portland #22 market, 1.1 million TV homes
Milwaukee #36 market, 850,000 TV homes
Toronto (in Canada, obvs)

NHL Final Four:
San Jose/SF #8 market, 2.4 million TV homes
St. Louis #21 market, 1.2 million TV homes
Raleigh #25 market, 1.1 million TV homes
Boston #9 market, 2.4 million TV homes

No Denver there, although they had a team in each league ALMOST make it

True indeed.

Maybe if they did a better job at national tv game rotation they'd get more nationwide interest.

This really applies to MLB. ESPN seems to be the combined Yankees, Red Sox and Dodger Network.

I would love to see a Milwaukee-Portland NBA final.
