With the MudHens in town, I doubt UT baseball or softball could ever see a size of crowds for a major on-campus stadium type environment(plus college age students unlikely to be a market that would sit and watch a game for 3+ hrs, even even on campus). Student crowds are actually not even that impressive for MBB, WBB or CFB at UT.

I think the UT master plan reflects what was needed and feasible-in terms of cost and size-that could be possible on main campus. But that will require a dedicated fund raising effort-perhaps that will be next step in future years. But I don't see any interest in revamping current plans for what such a facility would look like and where located on main campus as that's likely best option locked in.
