Not sure what's happening with fundraising at UT. When Jacobs was president, UT was supposed to be in a capital campaign. Seems like it vanished. I really don't know what's happening with the "current" campaign. Good luck trying to find any information on UT's website. I once had a university fundraiser tell me that you always had to be in a capital campaign or planning for one.

Meanwhile at BG, they recently finished a $250 million campaign and within the last 30 days received a separate $54 million individual gift.

Prior to Gaber leaving, UT was in what development folks call the "quiet pre-phase) and I believe had raised over $150 million, that included donation of the Welltower property, while colleges and other units had developed and set their list of top needs for fund raising to UT Foundation which was to launch public phase of a campaign ($300m+ target). Then pandemic hit and Gaber left, Postel arrived as interim and only recently named permanent. My understanding is that a capital fund raising campaign is priority of Postel and will be launched in next few years.

RE: Baseball field idea
With the MudHens in town, I doubt UT baseball or softball could ever see a size of crowds for a major on-campus stadium type environment(plus college age students unlikely to be a market that would sit and watch a game for 3+ hrs, even even on campus). Student crowds are actually not even that impressive for MBB, WBB or CFB at UT.

I think the UT master plan reflects what was needed and feasible-in terms of cost and size-that could be possible on main campus. But that will require a dedicated fund raising effort-perhaps that will be next step in future years. But I don't see any interest in revamping current plans for what such a facility would look like and where located on main campus as that's likely best option locked in.
