What you’re describing is mercantilism (which the heritage foundation subscribes to) which represents a significant regression in humanity, but tracks with the modern Republican Party.

yo, son, not only do ewe have mercantilism wrong as we now operate in the fiat (by itself makes it moot), but boy oh boy oh soy ewe are fk'n with the wrong mothertrucker ... JR will make ewe look sillier than that Bozo .gif...

please, keep pos(t)in'....

Gold and silver were for keeping score, We have other vehicles now. The concepts are the same.

lmmfao ... how is the fiat "finite" ... better to 'build with 'muh fraud', eh?! ... remind me what the donks offer as a solution in "concept" ... #popcornHeaven

w/o a tangible asset that measures, mercantilism never exists ... only tech allows the fiat in today's version ... and she's a fragile li'l biatch when debt outruns the banks...

ewe puzzy hats ain' seen shite, yet...

I see he doesn't understand at all. Digital is far worse than fiat. It lacks transparency so that one nation can not gauge the value of another nation's currency which bogs down trade.

Gold and Silver are up because the central banks are buying snapping it up and they are doing that to try to shore up the confidence in their fiat currencies which risk becoming hyperinflationary because they can't be accurately valued and have no intrinsic or inherent value of their own. The great experiment away from backed currency whether with an actual item of worth like gold, or a representation of stability provided by something like a nation's GDP, simply have spun out of control since the inception of digital currency.

The monetary system is freed to move at break neck speed, but nobody is finding the value in it. Crypto was simply another attempt to provide something of value but it has inherent flaws as well in as much as those who buy in late stand to lose a lot as they would with any Ponzi scheme. And metal payments are even suspect as China found out about a decade and a little more ago when they received a large payment in Gold, which was assayed once in the U.S., once in Germany, and then the Bank of England only to arrive in China as gilded Tungston. Each nation had plausible deniability.

Why is digital currency opaque? Because the accounting for how much of a nations debt is lost. Currency production is monitored and inventoried. Digital currency is just a computer marker saying the wealth exists. Therefore, how much digital wealth any nation claims really just amplifies the mystery surrounding their actual debt in a way that makes Weimar's printing of large and larger notes look amateurish by comparison.

Gold has hovered around all time highs for a reason. People trust it. Silver the same and has shattered its all time high. Hell even an old copper penny is almost worth 5 cents. There are 150 copper pennies in a pound of copper. Copper sells in trade 100lbs at the time. In 1982 when we started making pennies out of zinc copper pennies fluctuated between 2 cents to 2.5 cents in copper value. That's doubled in 40 years.

There is a move back to precious metals by the banks to regain a stable value for their currency. The banks are buying it up because they fear not being the main store of precious metal and having someone or some other entity establish its worth and rate of trade.

And therein resides yet another reason global trade is breaking down, hemispheric approaches to trade may gain traction, and why a World War is likelier than it should be.

Fiat currency is only backed by military say so. Might makes right and makes for the World Reserve Currency's acceptance. Thank you WWII for making the dollar strong! China wants to supplant the dollar as WRC. Them's fighting words.

Everyone has to go their corner and behave while the world tries to figure this out.

Good luck to us all! "Avast and fairwell to ye fair Spanish ladies!"

No one (except for Trump et al) is advocating for crypto. I’m certainly not. Trumps not forcing regime change in Venezuela for crypto-or fiat. He’s already said why he’s doing it (which I think he’s doing it for multiple reasons.

As to W filled Au bars. That was the Russian special back in the day. There was a lot of stuff coming out of the USSR during the looting stage that was W filled it’s almost exactly the same density as gold. There were guys who essentially had to bring grinders to deals (and sweep up the fines)

Just to help clarify your thoughts on metal trading- we don’t trade copper in 150# lots. We’d be drowning in paperwork if that was the case as the world consumes tens of millions of tons of copper per year. It’s traded on 3 major exchanges- COMEX (US) 25,000# lots, LME (UK) 25MT lots, SHFE(China) 5MT lots
