I've been able to put away money from every single paycheck I've made within my life, even when we were a one fulltime and one part-time income with a small child when my wife was finishing graduate school. For a while we had to live in a bad part of town and eat generic brand everything but we still made it a point to put money away. It's turned out to be a blessing that we did so several times because unlike friends and neighbors who had to take out loans for unexpected home or auto expenses we were able to pay for them without going into debt. When my Grandfather got sick we were able to help with his expenses because that's what responsible people do....help out family without asking the taxpayers to do it.

THAT'S being fiscally responsible.

You are an amazing person.

How am I doing?

I put my daughter through college without borrowing a dime. She has a good job 4 months after graduation and is well on her way to total independence. I live in a 70 year old home in my small town rather than in one of the subdivisions outside town. It will be paid for in 9 months. I have always contributed to a 401k, maxing it out in recent years in fact. I drive a 12 year old car. I have no debt other than the house, well I take that back I've got a zero turn mower that I got at zero interest with a couple of years left to pay on it. I have money in a Money Market Account that I use when medical bills come up. I had cataract surgery this summer and paid for that without using a credit card. We scrimp and do without. When I say "most of us live pay check to pay check" I mean people in general not me in particular. 07-coffee3

So explain to me why I should have money forcibly taken from every single one of my paychecks to pay for the people who can't live within their means.

First tell me how wonderful I am for my fiscal responsibility. 02-13-banana

I don't compliment people who lie in posts. You should feel lucky you aren't on ignore like fitbud is now.

Lucky? Ha, you do have a very inflated opinion of yourself. It's a message board. I could care less.04-cheers
