Baseball @TexasTech #3 (Sunday)
Don't look (or listen) now, but the Owls scored 4 in T1 on 4 walks, a Tech error and 2-RBI double by Duluc. Rice leads 4-1, after 3.
Greenwood has struck out 2 and walked only 1.
With 1 out in T4, the Owls have taken 6 walks, and struck out only 3 times.
(The audio feed is not working for me. "Something went wrong during native playback.")

Double play! Would asking for some amenities here be asking too much?

Another walk, followed quickly by a double. I can live with TTU mashing their way to a win, but these walks are ridiculous and unacceptable.
Rickett in to try and close this out. Still 6-4 Rice but TTU is threatening with no outs.

2 more walks...6-5. Bases loaded, no one out. Gonna go chew on some barbed wire.

The good news: B9 ended with a Red Raider lining out to short.
The bad news: They'd already tied it up on a bases-loaded walk and a sac fly.
More bad news: Owls down 1-2-3 in T10.
6-all, heading to B10.

In B11, Tech works a 9-pitch (5 fouls!) leadoff walk ... and he scores on a pinch-hit double (2-2 pitch). Sigh.

I don't care how "bare" the cupboard allegedly was (I'm not buying that, BTW), this is unacceptable.

Yeah, I was originally a pretty big Bragga supporter and was willing to give him some time, because the roster is/was depleted.
That said-It’s not 2-13 depleted. As I mentioned the other day-Look at what the LBSU coach is doing.

Something is obviously badly wrong. I don't know if it's Bragga or something else. Hard to believe, but Karlgaard has had three coaching hires in major sports, and right now the most impressive looking one is Pera. We're doing well overall in women's sports, probably the best we have ever done, but women's sports won't get us into a better league than CUSA. Right now, I'd say we are looking at pretty complete failure.

RE: Baseball @TexasTech #3 (Sunday)
It is too early to start talking about Bragga's job security, particularly with his apparently strong recruiting.
It is not too early to discuss the job security of his assistants. The approach at the plate is messed up and the number of walks issued by our pitchers would be unacceptable by high school standards. The talent level may not be where it was in 2003 but there are more than enough kids on this team that have the potential to succeed.

RE: Baseball @TexasTech #3 (Sunday)
I'm not calling for Bragga's head, at least not at this point. I expect the recruiting to pick up substantially when the effects of the Rice Endowment kick in, and I think our recent recruiting drought was pretty much inevitable. But we need to start seeing improvement, at least in the basics. Our approach at the plate is horrible, and our pitchers don't throw strikes.
Sometimes pitchers don't throw strikes because they think their stuff is not good enough to get hitters out in the zone. But I don't know an explanation for taking so many third strikes and swinging at so many ball outside the zone.
