I agree. We only lose Toure and Parris.
The big thing is that we have 'hit' on two true frosh, James and Dillard. That helps planning for the 2021/2 season that we have two prospective starters already getting a lot of PT and playing well as true frosh.

Talking on hitting on true frosh, e.g., from high school or a post grad prep school like Spire, here are Spire's h.s. and prep rosters:

Sam let me play the devil's advocate. Do we really need a legitimate center? Might we be better off with a 6'8" athletic player who can move within the zone? We have had Riley, Thompson and Toure, all whom were legitimate shot blockers with little mobility and the results have been less than stellar. Just an idea.

Actually I think you are right. Awaiting more comments.
BTW, going O/T my Wizards do not have ONE healthy center on their roster today. Bryant, Mahamimi, and Wagner are all injured.

RE: 2020 Men's Basketball Recruiting
Part of what makes the 2-3 zone most effective is having a big guy to take away the paint. We’ve never not had a true big man under Murphy, and I don’t expect that to change.
I fully anticipate Murphy adding at least a JUCO, and maybe an incoming freshman big as well. We are stocked up pretty much everywhere else.

Tariq seemed like a nice kid and other than McAdoo was the only player from last year's departures who had a future in basketball here. He is a good shooter but at 6'5'' is a "tweener", who did not handle the basketball well or rebound very good, thus neither a wing or a guard.
He could absolutely tear up Division 2, with his size and shooting. In D1 however, he is a bench guy inserted only in situations where his shooting skills are needed and his athletic deficiencies can be temporarily covered up. I wish him well!

Agree with all of this. I liked Silver, but we improved when we added Montero and Barnes, who are both significantly better defenders.
I really wanted him and McAdoo (and Ellison) to succeed here, since Murphy has only had three 4-year players in his time at EMU. Hopefully James and Dillard add to that number. They both have great potential.

Ellison is doing well at Saginaw Valley averaging 18ppg.

Happy for him. Seemed like a hardworking kid. His skill set, at his size, fits better in D2.

Sam you hit the bullseye with that comment! D2 is his fit for sure.

Should update this a bit, we continue to look at JUCO and now prep players in the following categories PG, Combo guard/small forward scorer and of course either a power forward/center. I am sticking to my predictions that this class will have 2-4 players.
And yes Murphy will be back.

Going to need at least two centers, if Murphy is coming back. He can’t make the same mistake again if he wants to win next season.

The only 2 seniors are Toure and Parris? Unless, someone else leaves? We need a center desperately next season, and A true PG! Who do you think might transfer out? I hope not James, or Dillard!
