Also that doesn’t mean Monty can’t develop him it means the kid wanted to go home. He has to sit this year and may never get a scholarship. He isn’t ready for D1 and if he was he would be the starting center at NIU. Whatever talent he does have the NIU coaching staff would’ve gotten it out of him. You can blame Monty for several things but Owen Hamilton leaving isn’t one of them.

You Can't blame Monty for any one person deciding to leave but you can blame him for the revolving door that our program has become and for failing to build a program that instills pride and a sense of brotherhood among his student athletes.

+1. And losing records season after season. And a lack of interest from fans who are failing to show up at the Convo.

Couldn't find playing time at NIU, but is being welcomed to play for a B10 powerhouse after putting up 1.3 pts a game. Doesn't add up. Well, I guess it does.

Hamilton is not being welcomed to play for Wisconsin. He is being welcomed to pay his own way to school and practice with the team for a year then maybe a scholly maybe not. If a 7 foot kid wants to walk on at NIU he will get the same welcome here.

He has a long way to go to be Div 1 ready. I do feel like he has enough tools that if paired up with the right coaching staff, he could be a serviceable 5 to 10 minute a game guy.

It’s going to be interesting to see if he develops into a solid Center for the Badgers. If his only knock is that he wasn’t strong enough..... There will always be that “what if” factor.

Right. He isn't welcomed to play for them. It's a trick to use him for practice only and to pay for school since he isn't any good, although when recruited he sounded like the next TJ Lux. Top 50 center out of HS, not too shabby.

Maybe NIU would love sign a walkon to just to pay, but I am guessing UW doesn't have NIUs financial problems. They are willing to give a chance, prove himself. Something he didn't see in his future @ NIU.

We used to have a damn good strength and conditioning program at NIU. Has it slipped a bit in recent years?
