1.5mil. Also we will likely not get the new scoreboard moved to the north end zone. I think they prioritized the new Founders club vs relocating the scoreboard and a top of the line scoreboard.
To me the upgraded Scoreboard located in the right location from a game atmosphere is much more important than the Founders club. However the founders club could generate recurring revenue for ODAF.
Why are we likely to not get the scoreboard? ODU has announced it and they have the money for it and the Founders Club.

We will get an upgraded scoreboard in the existing location. But not a liberty class scoreboard and sound system located in the North end zone. I think it is a HUGE mistake not to do that. I suspect cost for relocation, time for design and construction, and other priorities have factored into that decision.

The scoreboard isn’t as big of an issue to me. But I can see their logic in not wanting to spend millions on a relocation. If the eventual plans are to enclose the lower bowl, why put a scoreboard behind the bleachers that may have to be relocated again? I think the smart spend was on the revenue generating feature.

Our current scoreboard is crap but why would they spend money to upgrade it now when they're planning on moving it again later anyways?

We're actually getting an upgraded stadium sound system, per the news release from April.

I dont think you will move it. If you build it in the north endzone it will be tall and behind the existing north endzone and wont interfere with any new construction in the north endzone.

I think MrBB was saying we will get upgrades but he doesn't think it'll be as good as Liberty's.

Ahh, got it. I wasn't sure if he meant that or that the North End Zone's sound system wouldn't get upgraded at all.

This is what i hope they do. Just leave room for the lower bowl construction to finish the horseshoe if and when the second stage comes around and stand it up. That way the construction can happen when it comes around and we can make a decision whether to include the support structure for the board into the structure itself or just leave it alone based on what we want to do at that point.

Okay, that makes sense. I thought you meant upgrading it where it stands where half the north end zone can't see it. If you upgrade it and move it behind the north end zone now that would work

I must be the only one that doesn't care about the scoreboard. For me, it works for what I need from a scoreboard. I'm all for upgrading, but Im way more concerned with a thousand other things before that.
Get me a better sound system, some real toilets, a real press box, and some gosh darn internet.

None of the students can see the video board. That's a problem, especially when they cover most of the budget.

There are no plans to enclose the lower bowl. Plus the score board would be located above any structures they build below. They are considering a student and events venue where the north end zone bleachers are located. So your point is a non issue.

Here we are redoing our house and basically keeping our entertainment system with 2000's technology, sound, and a smaller poor resolution screen. The scoreboard at FBS venues drives game atmosphere. Liberty gets it. ECU, gets it, VT Gets it and we are staying and thinking like an FCS program and trying to cheap our way out again. Total project including the cost of the upgraded top of the line scoreboard and relocation is right around $3m. The budget has about $2M for the new scoreboard so we are $1m off. Also, there could likely be some cost adjusting/ savings because the sound system would be part of the new scoreboard/game entertainment system. This is a HUGE mistake if they don't do it now and try to wait until phase 2 (2021) which will likely NEVER happen.

That is a good point. But, they are too drunk to know there is a scoreboard over there anyways.

EXACTLY ! if they relocated to north end zone and move students to the NE corner of the new stadium it would benefit everyone.

I don't get the Founders club push which would only benefit a few hundred people when a top of the lone scoreboard located in the right location would benefit EVERYONE. Plus game atmosphere is lacking so that would help improve the experience as well.

I would guess financial reasons. I don't think anyone is skipping the game because they don't like the scoreboard. Founders Club could be a money maker.

There are plans to enclose the lower bowl, as evidenced by plans delivered in 2016. What we don’t have is financing, budgeting, approval, or timeline...but plans are out there. See page 47, North Concourse Plan.

That was for the old populous plan. I think they are referencing if the north endzone will be tackled in Phase 1. I think the consensus is that its not going to happen this go around but will be in the future (hopefully near future).
