In the meantime, I don't think I want to read too much on these boards. I know what's coming.
Not what I wanted, but the last NIT run was a ton of fun. Hope we can get a bid.
Yeah we need WKU to win it all to keep another NIT bid in play in case MTSU gets snubbed in the big dance and grabs another
No interest in the NIT from me.

We're not an NCAA team. We are an NIT team though. We don't have the horses yet. Not much Jones can do to make people hit shots.
When will we get the horses?

Leadership can be defined by how you act and inspire others in times of adversity. Jones does not inspire his team to greatness, he instills them with timidness and self-doubt. They always looks so scared and tight in big games. Always.

When you are 1-14 from 3 and your guard Haynes has been awful for a while why wouldn't you try one of the freshmen shooters for a few minutes? It makes zero sense. We needed a shooter, not Haynes. I have lost all hope in Jones. If he cannot make simple adjustments he has to go! He has taken this team as far as he can take it.

I think I'm on the train. I'm done with this every year.

I’m not advocating it, but I’m sick of this. Sadly I was expecting this to happen.

Yep. I now expect losses to top 3 teams and getting bounced in the semis. It's not ok.

We aren't making the nit either.
Not with our strength of schedule and lack of quality wins.
This season wasnt nearly as good as some of the jones defenders want to make it out to be.
We beat NO ONE!

Me too. So disappointing. Another year wasted. Hard to be positive right now.

RE: The official Jeff jones hot seat thread
I am in agreement that Jones teams never seem to win the big, high pressure games. I do think he deserves another season or two. This team had a great record, albeit against a lousy schedule and we lost to most of the decent teams except Marshall. If JJ takes this squad to the NIT F4 again (I know, long shot) we will be happy with him again. He has a good freshman class coming in. He better play them next year for a change because patience is running low. When does his contract run out? This article is confusing. Sounds like it is done in April, but there are some roll overs. He certainly hasn't earned more than a 1 year extension.

I'm not here to defend Jones nor condemn him. But the hot seat argument is ludicrous. Selig isn't going to fire a coach who just won 25 games. Never going to happen. Not in a million years.

You may be right and probably are. And to me, that's the crux of the issue. No leadership from the AD means none from the coach. We're doomed to mediocrity.
One contrary point though. Rather than focusing on Jones' record of wins, I think Selig should focus on his record of not making the NCAA's. That's much more meaningful.

Then why not just fill the schedule with Big South and MEAC teams and sign him to a lifetime contract?

Yea, have always wondered why Coach Jones never really inserted Marquis G. and Michael H. into games at various times when they could have perhaps changed the chemistry of our lackluster game at the time but no, never happened....

Time for a change ! JJ needs to retire. Let Stith take over. No need for a long drawn out search that leaves this decent recruiting class wondering.

No thanks. Stith played for and coached under JJ. Don't need more of the same.

For those who say nobody would fire a 20 win coach. Memphis will. They care about basketball.

You have no idea ....To assume Stith is the same as JJ from an offensive scheme or play perspective is idiotic.

Yes. Totally idiotic to assume the man who has spent all of his time in college basketball under JJ would have learned from him. I have also seen nothing from him that leads me to believe that he is the next great up and coming coach.
Frankly don't understand why anyone would ever fire their coach for performance the hire his assistant.
