Bottom line-I have been to a lot more UNCW games than most of the posters on this board. Most of the guys on this board have common sense and some are just blind as bats . I am guessing pretty young and sensitive to anything that is less than cheerleading for the Seahawks.

RE: NC State to fire Gottfried at end of season
Mullet,
Most of us have no problem calling things as they are. If you don't agree please read the other threads where there was a healthy discussion of the teams performance lately. Bill, 82, and several others are not afraid to point out flaws and shortcomings when they see them.
Where the majority of this board gets annoyed is your excessive negativity. Minor flaws are maximized and any cause for excitement is quickly dashed. One of the most exciting things about being a Seahawk fan to me is that we are overachievers. 95% of NCAA schools would be downfallen and laughingstocks if they are had our budget and resources but not only do we make it work we thrive. That is something to celebrate as we grow. We always strive to grow and provide our university with the resources they need, but the truth of the matter is we are always likely to be behind financially to our peers due to circumstances beyond our control.
There is nothing wrong with pointing out problems when you see them. I do that frequently myself. But I don't dwell on them and no matter what I want to see this university succeed and our teams win. Is that the case for you?

I agree with that fr the most part. I do point things that I see as a problem for a basketball and don't really take it personal. I like this team and have been pleased with the way they play overall. Hard to argue with what they done to this point.
What I don't care for is the needless bashing of NCSU and the situation there. It seems like the faithful have very short memories, showing zero empathy for the brothers in Raleigh. I also know that many can't see past Trask and the teal. I see that as a shortcoming but hey that is up them I suppose . If hating on a team and fanbase makes you fell better about yourself-go for it. I don't see them offering Keatts the job and maybe that is part of the angst here, fear of losing him to a program so close by. I am done with it,let it play out.

I'm not sure when the last time you scrolled up was, but this is the UNCW board. This isn't the "ACC Nest". Like I said, if you have an issue with us talking facts about other programs you can log off and go find an ACC board to worship the ACC at.
And I don't care how many UNCW games you've attended.

And for anyone that thinks I'm being too harsh, the time in the penalty box is only for a week.

I don't mind him too much but sometimes he pushes the limit, and I've been quite patient with it for the most part.

Coast Guard I am a big seahawks fan and go to a lot of games in many sports at uncw and I feel you are way off base on what nc state can accomplish with the right coaching staff.they have a tremendous upside and I have followed the acc since early 60's

Yes. That means there's a chance. But the probability is low. How am I wrong?

I think it is very high. They are in the acc and have the facilities and the funds to compete and all it takes is getting the right coach.

Not when it's dealing with speculation that involves our current coach. I think that was the point of the thread.

They have probability for success IF they make the right hire. However recent history has taught us they have significant trouble doing that

THANK YOU. And yes, because this thread originally involves conversations concerning Coach Keatts, it stays put.

I would rather have these threads popping up then not. It means we're successful.

Add Jay Bilas to "blind as a bat" category. Just said Dayton is a better job, plus a lot of the other points that have been made here.
Keatts would be wise to choose a place where there is a path to success (when/if). That's the advice Pitino gave him when he chose UNCW.

Well, but how long has Jay Bilas been following the ACC? Has he ever attended any NC State games?

RE: NC State to fire Gottfried at end of season
I pull for UNCW above all but I'm also a state fan. When gottfried lost Lutz it really hurt him and the program. Foresaking state fans for wanting to reclaim their status as a primere national basketball program is disengenous. That is just like saying that UNCW fans should have just accepted that we were a mid-tier CAA team after the Brownell debacle. (Which really bugs me b/c I thought we were set-up for a few years with Donlon after Brownell left)
This is a very important hire for state. Roy and K are getting older and won't be around forever. Until they both leave, it is going to be hard for Sate to compete at the level their fans want to. I think they gun for a young coach which is why I'm a little scared about Keatts leaving. With that being said, just a personal hunch, but I think that he could hang around until the Louisville job opens up. At least I hope so. I know one thing, he sure as hell won't bolt for Wright St. And I hope he wouldn't bolt for another mid-major. I think he goes from here directly to a P5 school.
