He played what appears to be 1.5 seasons at Findlay. Took a redshirt and sitting out this season as a transfer.

Jones is listed at 6' 6" 225 and can play C / PF. Who knows how much he has improved (or will improve next year) as he is relatively inexperienced as a college player.

I'm trying to think of which recent EMU player who was his size and played inside (short, muscular center/PF). My brain is coming up empty... (EDIT: Hughley, Hunter???). O/T: but my favorite player who was similar in size was Kareem Carpenter. Kareem was a little short for a PF, but he was stocky and a real bull in the china shop. Think he might hold an EMU record for rebound (one game?).

He sounds like depth. A good guy to have on the team but not a difference maker. Is he on scholarship or is he a walk?

EMU needs a shooter.

BTW, what concerns me is that next season Toney, Mangum and Lee will all exhaust their eligibility.

The 2017-18 front court will have plenty of returnees e.g., JT4, LWH, Madray, Nobles, Bond, etc. but the under class men in the back court have not stepped up yet.

I have no idea what will happen with Wes Clark, (now) fmr Missouri guard. Academic problems.

He could sitout a year and play one if he can get his academics together.

BTW, he seems a 'classic' Oates player, born Detroit, educated Romulus. Seems a very familiar pattern including our own Lee.

I believe we recruited this PG out of Lansing before he went to Tenn State.

RE: 2016/17/18 Men's Basketball Recruiting
BTW, a little context to recruiting in MI h.s.:

I have a subscription service to a good MI h.s. recruiting service.

I look at the rankings and follow them until where the D-I recruits end and the D-IIs begin.

There are about three who meet that criterion and a couple close.

Justin Thompson, Detroit Renaissance, is a high ranked unsigned G, probably a combo.

James Towns II is a good PG from Detroit Henry Ford.

Kelvon Fuller, PF, but there were questions, I believe, about his academics or some issue with it. I have NO idea where he is or how well he's done. I basically have him off my radar. EDIT: I don't think he is playing because of academic issues.

I also see Karim Murray, 6' 2", Detroit Western, but know nothing of him.

In the next group might be Marlo Brown, Southfield Christian, a SG.

So Thompson, Towns II, and Brown would be my top 3 prospects from the state of MI h.s. ranks.

We'll be in much heavier in 2017.

RE: 2016/17/18 Men's Basketball Recruiting
O/T: Oversigning in both hoops and football is common (not just a Fleck thing in K'zoo).

At the bottom of this article on MSU's recruitment of Josh Jackson is a paragraph indicating if Jackson signs this spring with MSU they'll be ONE OVER for 2016/17 season...

"For Jackson to be able to sign with MSU, someone on the current roster who is slated to return to the team for the 2016-17 season would have to depart."

So it is Fleck. And Izzo, the hoop god of collegiate hoops. In Ann Arbor, UofM didn't offer Max Bielfieldt a scholarship for this year as they didn't have one to offer (he went to IU as a grad transfer). And he is averaging 8 ppg with nice shooting percentages for IU.

Bottom line: #ShitHappens in collegiate sports.

Another under the radar 2016 MI Class B prospect:

lass B Player of the Week
DeYuan Heard 6-7 Sr Dearborn Advanced Tech: He is one of the most intriguing 2016 college-eligible prospects still out there, lanky and skilled like he’ll only get better. And he’s already pretty good, with 36 points and 14 rebounds against Warren Michigan Collegiate. He’s averaging 25 and 13 a game.

Ranked #114 in the preseason rankings of a recruiting service I use.

I assume we are talking NAIA, D2, etc.

Verbalcommits.com reports that EMU has a verbal from 6' 11" Baylee Steele from Naz's JUCO.

Part of the website says offer; another part says committed.

looks like a two years at Norwalk 3rd team All State and one year at Des Monies 8.2 pts and 6.2 rebounds as frosh should have three years of eligibility left, wonder if he redshirts next year

I would guess he is a definite candidate unless something like injury happens.

That also spreads the classes out a little. He can spend four years at EMU.

Any kind of guard. We lose all three in our rotation after next year.

We are getting to an interesting part of the post tourney across America: players are announcing transfers, coaches getting relieved of their duties, post season bids, etc.

I'M following a Twitter account: Therecruitscoop as well as verbalcommits.com.
