Would have looked good in green and white.

Not sure we even offered him. We have only one known scholie for 2016.

Newman (2016) trims his list to Buffalo, George Mason and Cleveland St. We didn't make the final cut. We need to start reeling in local players.

We have one scholarship for 2016. And a full stable at guard already. If that one schollie doesn't go to a big man, I will be pretty irritated. Let's not overreact because a kid that we might not have even been actively recruiting didn't choose us.

I was going to post the same.

With ONE scholarship we can't go hard for EACH of five positions.

PF or C is our greatest need.

So if we were overloaded at guard why did we even offer Newman for 2016? Justin Turner is also listed as an offer and he's a guard.

I'm assuming if we landed Dailey all of us would be very very happy.

Only bigs I know of are Groce, Hayes (not seeing alot about him on Michigan prep websites or camps) and maybe Bingham at Mott CC. Correction Bingham is no longer on Mott's roster so I don't where he is currently. He also posted on his twitter that he hoped Mott lost every game.

When did we offer him: last week, last month, last spring, etc?

We've added a couple JUCO guards in Spring.

Needs, etc. are dynamic and changing. I don't think I'd spend our sole scholarship there (but things could change this season).

Turner has been on our radar for a long time, too.

My guess is that if we go for a guard, it would be in April and predicated on some development which hasn't happened yet.

Here's an interesting name, things didn't work out at Kingdom Prep and he's now apparently at Glen Oaks Community College:

Here is more info on him. He is from Westland and also Willow Run and RIVER ROUGE.

http://www.annarbor.com/sports/high-scho...ver-rouge/

Of course, Stone wasn't at Rouge then.

Nevertheless, it is hard to believe he isn't on our radar.

I know NOTHING but I got to believe we are following him if he is eligible to sign next month.

He may have been Steve, I know I found an article about Kingdom Prep in Iowa going belly up he had gone there I believe for his senior year of high school, now at Glen Oaks CC according to Rivals, missing a year. Couldn't find him on Seward CC's roster.

Rivals on his college freshmen year dated 10/14:

Another freshman big who has a chance to eventually make his way to a program somewhere on the high major level is Liberal (Kan.) Seward County's Jamal Poplar. A three-star prospect who Rivals.com saw plenty of as a high schooler, Poplar is a thin and very mobile 6-foot-8 four man who can shoot and put the ball on the floor. If he can add some strength, his ability to put the ball on the floor makes him very intriguing. - See more at: https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/...4iUQ4.dpuf

Yes.

Good stats at a very good JUCO conference. Sounds like we need. A high skill PF.

My question: will he graduate in Spring 2016. I'm assuming he wasn't a qualifier out of h.s./prep school.

That will be disappointing news for CC who recruited Martin hard.

No surprise to me.

IF Martin came to EASTERN it would be for hoops because of his brother and Murphy.

As far as football, Toledo is a hard program to turn down...

I believe Martin had more options in football than hoops. Martin has ideal size for football but not for basketball say a SF.
