RE: OT: CUSA board Music thread (what are you listening to right now?)
Got my old 33 1/3 rpm out last night and was singing this for my kid. Amazingly, I haven't sung it in decades but still remembered all the lyrics. A good song is one that imprints in your memory over the ages, imho. Enjoy!
Artist: Mary Martin
Cut: "Bibbity Bobbidi Boo"
1967 Disneyland Records
Mary Virginia Martin (December 1, 1913 – November 3, 1990) was an American actress, singer, and Broadway star. Martin was born in Weatherford, Texas. A muse of Rodgers and Hammerstein, she originated many leading roles over her career, including Nellie Forbush in South Pacific and Maria von Trapp in The Sound of Music. She was named a Kennedy Center Honoree in 1989. She was the mother of actor Larry Hagman (Maj. Roger Nelson from "I Dream of Jeannie" and, of course, good ol' J.R. Ewing from "Dallas"!)
"Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" is a novelty song, written in 1949 by Al Hoffman, Mack David, and Jerry Livingston.
If your mind is in a dither, and your heart is in a haze,
I'll haze your dither, and dither your haze, with a magic phrase.
If you're chased around by trouble, and followed by a jinx,
I'll jinx your trouble, and trouble your jinx, in less than forty winks.
Oh, Salagadoola mechicka boola bibbidi-bobbidi-boo
Put 'em together and what have you got?
Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo.
Salagadoola mechicka boola bibbidi-bobbidi-boo
It'll do magic believe it or not
Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo.
Salagadoolaree means mechicka boolaroo
But the thingmabob that does the job is
bibbidi-bobbidi-boo.
Salagadoola mechicka boola bibbidi-bobbidi-boo
Put 'em together and what have you got?
Bibbidi-bobbidi bibbidi-bobbidi bibbidi-bobbidi-boo.

Artist: Clannad
Album: Magical Ring
Cut: "Theme From 'Harry's Game'" (Top of the Pops, 1982)
October 1982 RCA Records
"The young man with his reputation behind him."
A song performed by the Irish group Clannad, (Irish pronunciation: [kl̪ˠan̪ˠad̪ˠ]), an Irish band formed in 1970 in Gweedore, County Donegal. The song was written and composed by Pól Brennan, who initially wrote and composed it for the Yorkshire Television production Harry's Game, which depicted The Troubles in Northern Ireland. The lyrics are in the Irish language, and the song is to date the only British hit single ever to have been sung entirely in Irish. The chorus, "Fol lol the doh fol the day, Fol the doh fol the day," is ancient Irish mouth-music which is common in traditional music. Their sister/niece Enya (Irish: Eithne Ní Bhraonáin) left the group in 1981, before this song was released, to pursue a solo career.

Really enjoyed that one, Space. Was much easier to follow the lyrics with the acting. Interesting tyo see a much younger Ricardo Montalban than the "Khan" we're used to.

I'm amazed that nobody has posted on the loss of Greg Lake.
I listened to a lot of his music while at TECH. We have lost an innovative musician which will not be easily replaced.

I was sad to hear of his passing, listened to his music quite a bit back in college. This was one of my favorites, especially every year at this time...
