Had no clue about Gibbons in Moving Sidewalks. Kool as heck Space. That's what is so great about this thread. Speaking of Gibbons and Hendrix, did you ever catch this R&R Hall of Fame performance?

FWIW, I saw ZZ live in Cincinnati in the early 90's and it was a great show!

Not to turn this OT but I have zero problem with medicinal use of Mary Guana. If I'm suffering from chronic pain or a terminal disease I should have as many options to manage my pain and quality of life as possible and it is prescribed by a doctor. My mom battled through (successfully) ovarian cancer including surgery and I have an uncle who suffers from chronic back pain and nothing helps - he's had a surgical procedure done as well. I have seen what pain and discomfort is like close up.

@ the ZZ Top posts.....

I don't know what I have to say about them. Their "80's hits" I liked a LOT but when I got a cd of their "hits" from their entire career... I didn't really find much "new to me" stuff I liked. Now, I don't dislike their sound overall...but I found it real hard to get into their early catalog.

--is the disc I got.

***********************************************

I've vegged out to the following over the last week:

I liked a lot of tracks off that debut cd. But, after that, on their subsequent albums from around that time--just weren't something I could get into again. In perusing amazon for the album cover it seems they have kept going after I guess a long 90s hiatus and put out something as recent as 2014.

I liked a lot of their hits and got DRFSR and Cherry Pie on dubbed tapes back in the day. IMO, when the put out Dog Eat Dog it was a sign of the end as they tried to be something other than what they were. The probably were killed off by grunge like a lot of the bands during that time but they had a pretty good sound.

Got a hits disc of a killer sale. Not too bad, but not great enough for me to dig into them further.

Nothing like some killer 80s thrash metal LOL

What can I say, I wanted some bass heavy jams to put my car subs to work.

--Digging into the crates....

Damn good disc of rocking hits.

Believe it or not, the Drummer for KORN is my good friend and next door neighbor here in Franklin, TN. He's been on tour with KORN in Europe the last couple of weeks but here's Ray Luzier doing what he does best:

Loving the ZZ Top memory lane. There was a nightclub here in San Antonio a few years back called ZZs owned by the guys. I went there a few times waiting for them to show but never lucked out. Well I'm up later than expected due to the fine tunes on here. Got to go to the Doc for my back but I doubt I will be medicated in kind from a previous post as it is a military facility. 8-0 (I haven't a clue what that emoji means, I just made it up)

eezzzz (no zzz's) awake again....here's a another compare/contrast from tonk(a)-ville 'burg couch crash->>>as I scroll during this annoyingly/almost daily version of 'pillow tossing'..... 03-wink

================

now flip forward to PTNC getting me all riled up in this current 'state'....dude, Slayer is right hand/forearm hell on earth....it's amp up the crowd at its finest pal....

and Kip was just too damn pretty that did actually have talent......

it's just too cool how music can bring us all full circle is so many different ways.....

-----------------

so in tribute to Korn amping today's send-off tuning after forcing my flying V back into drop mode and SALIVA...(only one is in drop)

I still wish the intro to this SALIVA tune was the black and golds intro as they 'fly' onto the field

____________

and drop D wouldn't be complete w/o including one from the fellers that are never going to complete album #5 (who are headlining this year's voodoo festival.....I've become a chaperone at my age as I plan for this year's hello-ween planned travels....'cept I'll be 46 and 5 when that happens 03-wink )

Well, Brian Welch, a founding member of KORN also lives here. I know him well too. I'm not sure where the other band members live...I only know these two. But we laugh about the fact that I'm not a fan of their KORN music at all. Ray (the drummer) loves Classic rock just like I do, and he played drums for 8 years for David Lee Roth. He also did a short stint as the drummer for Van Halen. But, these guys live here in Nashville because this town is filled with musicians, music studios, music managers, etc.... It's the place to be in their business.

The RATM members sans the lead singer joined with Chris Cornell to form Audioslave. That was a pretty good band too.
