that's pure honesty pouring from the spiget(s)....thank you for that one....took me back to the genre of great-granny days....
You're Welcome. Happy to share that one.
For me variety is the spice of life. I think the great thing about a thread like this is getting a chance to listen to more variety from others' posts than I might find on my own.
When I was younger my tastes were more narrow, and I couldn't dig the stuff my parents played while driving in the car. But now, I am thankful for all the crooners and classic American Songbook and 50's rock and jazz they exposed me to. I still like to listen to some punk and occasionally some good hard rock and even metal, but in my mid years, I am really glad for Jazz, the great singers and songwriters of the 40's, 50's and 60's, and things of that ilk. I always gravitate to a great song. I find much (though not all) of today's music waaaayyyy overproduced and over-reliant on technology than in solid basic songwriting.
As much as I enjoy sports I have really enjoyed this thread too amigo. Maybe more than the sports discussion over here. Much like you, when younger I had narrower tastes. I'm driving to Florida tomorrow morning and can't wait to fire up the dahbeed playlist. It's up to 600+ songs now and I put it on shuffle. It has a little bit of everything and more than a few I purchased after WWDawg put them on here.
I recently retired and am now free to hit the music scene in BG and Nashville a lot harder than I have in the past. Would love to hit South by Southwest some time. I just really love music.
kudos to your trip....it's pretty cool when you feel comfortable riding 'that' wave....

went to a club one night years ago in the "hip" part of town, where the cool kids go, not the trendies. Heard this song. Bought the Cd next day. Great hook!
"Everybody needs a bosom for a pillow." Don't you know it!
Artist: Cornershop
Album: When I was born for the 7th Time track: "Brimful of Asha"
1997
Warner Bros records.
This is the Norman Cook Remix. The original version of the song is on the cd I have.

If you've never seen this video it's a real treat. Been awhile for me.
Actor Christopher Walken performs as you've never seen him before:
Artist: Fatboy Slim
track: "Weapon Of Choice"
Album: Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars video featuring Christopher Walken
directed by: Spike Jonze
feat additonal vocals by: Bootsy Collins, yeah the guy from George Clinton's Parliament/Funkadelic

Allright, stinkfist. Here's the original, before Evanescence was around. Had to grab the cd off my shelf from the several I own of theirs. An artist who got their name from an early Simple Minds demo from 1979, no less (back when Simple Minds was much more punk rock):
Artist: Cocteau Twins
Track: "Heaven or Las Vegas" Album: Heaven or Las Vegas
1990
Capitol Records
yes, Elizabeth Fraser singing vocals. Band was from Scotland.

Simply one of the best music videos ever made. Possibly the best.

edit: fixed the link- Mind-Blowing SIX Song Country Mashup
Here's the description from the guy who made this mashup:
"I just want to be clear that this Mashup is all in good fun. I am not bashing these songs. I understand and even appreciate why the "formula" continues to dominate the airwaves- not only in country music, but in pop and other genres as well. I simply enjoy mixing and producing on Pro Tools, and when I heard the striking similarities of these particular hits, I thought it would be fun to throw them all in a mix and see what I could come up with. And it looks like people are having fun with it too, so all the better!
"Sure Be Cool If You Did"- Blake Shelton
"Drunk on You"- Luke Bryan
"Chillin' It"- Cole Swindell
"Close Your Eyes"- Parmalee
"This is How We Roll"- Florida Georgia Line
"Ready, Set, Roll"- Chase Rice
As an aspiring songwriter/producer living in Nashville who, like so many, has had a hard time getting a bite from the "gate keepers", my current experiment is working on a song specifically designed to become the 7th entry to this mashup formula (hence the "To Be Continued" at the end of the video). I figure hey, at the very least, they won't be able to say it doesn't sound like a hit! :)
