I’d expect a shockingly lucrative ending for Russia, if an ending is to happen anytime soon.

We can only hope, this war resembles the trench war of WWI, there was no end in sight, just bloodshed.

They weren't always willing at all. Z said no Ukrainian land would be conceded. Hard stop. That was a long term message.

I called it a quagmire the first day Biden* told Russia they could go in. It was completely predictable. Russia's logistical support sucks balls.

It happened in Afghanistan. Russia was using their superior air power. Then the US gave the rebels some stinger missiles, russian jets got shot down, Russia could no longer use air superiority so their logistics chain halted and then quagmire.

In this war, Trump I gave Ukraine Javelin missiles, which were highly effective against tanks and helicopters. The US then showed some Ukranian rednecks how to scratch build a couple of Neptune missiles, and the Mosqva got sank to the bottom of the sea and all other ships had to retreat. And then, quagmire.

Supposedly, the deal is what Ive been saying is where we would likely end up. The battle lines are frozen in place and Ukraine gets NATO Article 5 level security guarantees (either from NATO itself, or from a coalition of US/EU nations more than capable of deterring another invasion). This was always grudgingly acceptable to Ukraine---it was previously always rejected by Russia who continued to demand that ALL of the Donbas region be turned over to Russia---including the substantial areas Russia had been unable to conquer (which included the multilayered Ukrainian "fortress city" defense belt that has proven so difficult to crack and served as the primary defense line protecting all the rest of Ukraine). Assuming this surprising new stance by Russia is real and not another BS announcement from Trump Administration sources---then I suspect a peace deal can be realized pretty quickly. As for the reason there could be a change of heart on Russia's part---my guess is their intelligence sources have confirmed that the Ukrainian ballistic missile program has entered serial production---which means very soon large swaths of their nation (including Moscow, St Petersburg, and numerous refineries and sensitive defense sites) will be subject to random ballistic missile strikes---each missile carrying a nearly 2000 pound warhead. This would be serious ballistic missile threat for which Russia currently has almost no ability to stop.

For the doubters---Ukraine agreed long ago to a freeze in place (link below).

They need another winter or 2 of paying to get it I think. Their economies may need to bottom out before they fully grasp it.

There is a reason the West cannot achieve its goals in Ukraine or Iran.
