What we're seeing is a replay of the North vs South pre-Civil War arguments regarding population, electoral college, and number of house representatives appointed to each state. Blue states are losing population relative to the red states - which is being seen as an existential threat to the Dems. They're using every trick possible to import illegals in the hope of minimizing the power shift due to population. From what I saw there was an officer at the front left of the vehicle that was struck as the vehicle sped off, assuming he is the one who opened fire.
