Greenfield: Democrats Want You to Pay the Media's Bills
While small businesses go under, Democrats are bailing out the media.

Thu Oct 8, 2020 Daniel Greenfield

Quote: The media is dying. Its business model is defunct. Its bias has alienated most of the country. In the latest Pew survey, the only group that still trusts the media are Democrats.

And while so many millions are out of work, Democrats are bailing out the media.

The wave of consolidations and bankruptcies is sweeping like a fire through major papers. Cable news will be a casualty of demographics and the end of bundling. The end of network television is less than a decade away. Brand names like CNN and MSNBC will soon be where Time, Newsweek, and other news magazines ended up once subscriptions collapsed.
............
The media’s Plan A has been sponging off Big Tech companies like Google and Facebook, pressuring them to pour hundreds of millions of dollars into its operations. Its Plan B is blurring the line between lefty activist non-profits and its newsrooms with organizations like Report for America being funded by Facebook and Google to embed activists into local newspapers.

Is that going to pay the media’s bills? No. That’s why there’s Plan C. And Plan C is you.

H.R. 7640: The Local Journalism Sustainability Act was introduced in Congress, backed by a coalition that includes Report for America and the National Newspaper Association, and would offer tax credits for newspaper subscriptions and tax credits for paying the salaries of the radical activists working there. There's also a $5,000 tax credit for advertising in newspapers.

At a time when millions of Americans are out of work, when families are faced with losing their homes and businesses, Democrats have decided that they should aggressively subsidize a dying industry at the expense of everyone else whose jobs are seen as “non-essential”.

I want to know who are the 20 GOP backers? Somebody needs to talk some sense to them.

They are a major source of free advertising. If you dollarized it, they are probably the DNC's biggest supporters. So is anyone surprised?

Capitalism fails when it sustains failed business models. A free society naturally selects business models that benefits them and naturally allows those which don't to fail. It is a certain sign that something is horribly wrong with our system when there are entities that want to prop up failed systems simply because those systems are a tool by which they inflict their will against the will of the people.

This is why Capitalism when practiced freely is one of the healthiest systems in the world. Things which benefit the public interest thrive and those that do not for whatever reason don't. IT is natural selection at work in interpersonal relationships and should be permitted to function. It means that the most productive systems becomes the most successful systmes. This is the essence of what natural selection is about and it is what perpetuates the survival of our species.

All of us should demand that these failed, flawed, and corrupt systems suffer the fate of public mistrust. To do otherwise is to sew the seeds of our own destruction. The corporations propping them up are also paying for the violence and they seek to impose their will over the public good and this too is an evil that free people will address once they've established media outlets that they trust in the place of those which they do not.

Another stupid idea from a place that keeps coming up with new ones.

Sometimes when an antiquated industry is dying there is a good reason.

Of course the Democrats want to funnel money to the media as the majority of media effectively acts as their communications arm......just another way to have the American taxpayer pay for their political activities.....
