250 251 Georgetown Big East 5-14 0-6 1-1 4-7 0-4 0-5 1-3 4-2

Just looking at Providence…ranked 22nd…but who have they beat outside the Big East..no one good…they lost to St Louis and really have no good out of conference wins…yet because of the perception of the Big East they are ranked 22nd..

I mean, many of us have been talking about how the NET Rankings manipulate things to always have "power" conference teams in the Top 100 regardless of how good they actually are for years...it's not rocket science, they have a metric that has no explanation that essentially just allows them to call whoever they want a "good" team and keep power conference teams in the upper quadrants to float everyone.

Nah, their Kenpom rankings are even higher than NET above. BE basketball is strong.

Overrated conference…Villanova got them notice and now they suck…but perception that they are a good conference is still there

It's not perception, it's statistics. Depending on what computer ranking algorithm you like to use they are top 4 both last year and this year.

USF putting a beatdown on UCF.

TCU up 24 on Kansas and coasting to a win at The Phog.

The Big XII is just an insanely good league.

Pat Forde asked for someone to explain tcu because they lost 3 of 4 then best Kansas. It's not complicated. It's easy to go on a losing streak when your conference has 9 of the best 30 teams in the country.

Ucla really Micked it up against Arizona. Grinding the game to a halt. Nothing in transition. Offense was a lot of late shot clock isoball. Though ucla has the guys to convert late iso ball, they didn't today. Arizona wants to be in transition, but couldn't. Didn't matter. Honestly, Arizona should probably slow down. They can still play at a fast tempo but don't need to be breakneck. They defended really well today despite being bad on that end all year.

Temple beats Houston in the Fritata...guess I was wrong about the Owls. Probably going to be Hpuston, Memphis, and Temple heading to the dance.

As if Houston on their court wouldn't be fabulous enough.

"Micked it up." Love it.

So much for UC catching Houston napping against an overmatched opponent this Sunday for UC's sole CBS network televised game in '23.

Houston does have a game on Wednesday. Hopefully UCF is the team that feels their wrath.

Emoni Bates just scored 29 straight points for Eastern Michigan, all in the first half. That's unheard of.

43 points overall and they still lost to Toledo.

That was a crazy up and down game.

Shades of George Gervin.

Most Toledo games are...they are not fans of defense and have two guys shooting 50+/40+/80+ slashes this season with another two shooting 45+/35+/75+ slashes.

Had no idea how bad EMU was this season.

Thought they were going to be decent when they had a high-scoring thriller with Michigan in Downtown Detroit at the start of the season.

Now they're #332 in NET (up 9 spots after losing to Toledo by 5).

Makes you wonder if that was Bates' truly best/only option for this season.

That's what everyone I know who would have any fingers on the pulse of the situation (EMU Athletics Staff, AAU basketball contacts, MAC contacts) seem to think. Dude is more toxic than a carrot from Chernobyl and his dad is even worse.

UConn loses at home to Eggs dropping 4 out of their last 5 and 6 of 10. This team was 14-0 [3-0] and ranked #2 AP at the end of December. What happened? I don't follow the Big East but UConn fans have to be shiiting their pants right now.

RE: 2022-23 College Basketball General Thread - vabearcat - 01-25-2023 11:11 PM

UConn played well tonight but Eggs played better. Eggs has an offense that is as good as anybody’s. 3-point shooting, passing, offensive rebounding and shooting accuracy are outstanding. Souley Boome is possibly the POY in the Big East and likely a 2nd or 3rd Team All American. He’s a difference maker and makes them a serious threat in the NCAA Tournament.
