Speaking just for me, that was about appearances. And appearance has zero to do with results. None of have any idea what the results of all these QB transfers will be. But for me it was just a bad look when your last QB recruit leaves when the position was basically up for grabs(as far as we know). It signaled the end of Hammock ever being able to recruit a HS QB. And living off the portal for QB's may work out fine, but Kidd leaving wasn't about Kidd's ability to play but more about Hammock's ability to recruit.

Huff, if he comes, may turn out to be great. But in terms of appearances I think it looks like Hammock was out-portaled by the rest of the MAC in terms of QB's. You have to think other MAC fan bases are much more excited about the QB's they brought in than what NIU brought in. We will just have to wait and see who it works out best for.

That may very well be. Then I guess Hammock is out in front of it all. Farming FCS QB's with experience could stabilize the position. It will probably eliminate the once in a decade superstar like Lynch, but it could eliminate those years with zero at the position.

The portal could have saved Carey's job here.

I have no opinion on him, but what is the optimism that he is 'going to be a really good quarterback for us' based on?

IDHO stats are a very minimal sample size, but not great. I understand he was a decently rated recruit and can run a bit, entirely possible he develops into a good starter, but IDK.
