I don't know. Rice seems to want to let coaches' contracts run their full term.

It's an iron clad GOR. FSU isn't going anywhere unless they pay up.

Sure they can, Irreconcilable Differences, which they clearly have, no harm, no foul...well.....but they can just walk and even sue the League for support during their difficult transition period. Totally Legal and Ironclad. Done. What could possibly go wrong?

2024-25 College Football Playoff Schedule

First round (on-campus)
Friday, Dec. 20, 2024: One game (evening)
Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024: Three games (early afternoon, late afternoon and evening)

Quarterfinals
Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024: Vrbo Fiesta Bowl (evening)
Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025: Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl (early afternoon), Rose Bowl Game (late afternoon) and Allstate Sugar Bowl (evening)

Semifinals
Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025: Capital One Orange Bowl (evening)
Friday, Jan. 10, 2025: Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic (evening)

CFP National Championship game
Monday, Jan. 20, 2025: Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta

The four highest-ranked conference champions will earn the top-four seeds and receive a first-round bye. The other eight teams will play in the first round, with the higher seeds hosting the lower seeds either on campus or "at other sites designated by the higher-seeded institution." The 11 presidents and chancellors who have the ultimate authority over the playoff are expected to soon approve a model that rewards the five highest-ranked conference champions and the next seven highest-ranked teams. That places a renewed emphasis on the conference championship games, and it also guarantees a spot in the 12-team field for the highest-ranked Group of 5 champion which is a major change from the four-team system, in which the only guarantee for the top G5 champ was a New Year's Six bowl. The so-called G5 teams will finally have a guaranteed chance for at least one playoff representative. So, play and win all your games, conference championship and you're in contention for the one guaranteed spot, and perhaps another occasionally. (6 wins won't be considered 'successful'.)

Hopefully several of the lesser who cares? bowl games will fold, at least hopefully enough so that teams will have to have a winning record in order to get to a bowl game. We'll see.

So I guess what you are saying is I need to not plan on any Christmas trips next year quite yet in case Rice is hosting one of those Dec. 20-21 games?

I was thinking along the same lines!

Rice will need a 13-0 record to earn a 5th conference champ bid and a high enough ranking to host a first round game.

Unless the top 5 seeds are the top 5 conference champs in which case… even at 12-1 (maybe even 11-2) I’ll see you all at Historic Rice Stadium December 20 or 21!

Naah. Overly optimistic would be 16-0 and winning the tourney. We’re not battle tested for that deep of a run yet.

Imo I’m simply a
