.

I'm surprised to see Damian Dunn and Khalif Battle on the 1st and 2nd teams, respectively. I'd have expected Battle to be on the 1st team, given his scoring prowess, but he may dropped to second team due to missing most of last season.

Here are their 2021-22 stats:

.............ppg....rpg..apg...spg...FG2%..FG3%...PER*... BPM^

Dunn:....14.9...4.2...2.0...0.9... .439.. .301.....16.1.....1.4

Battle:...21.4...3.9...1.0...0.4... .538.. .488......26.0.....8.4

*Player efficiency rating (15 is considered an average PER rating)

^Boxscore Plus/Minus: (a BPM >5.0 is considered good)

how fo you think we do the first couple days

auto wins
- Chaminade at Cincinnati
- McNeese State at Tulane
- Texas A&M Commerce at SMU
- Cleveland State at Cincinnati
- Central Arkansas at Wichita State

comfortable win, but you cant say auto win
- Houston vs. Saint Joseph’s - a10 team in "neutral"
- Mercer at East Carolina -- mercer is bad but no ecu game is auto
- SE Missouri State at South Florida -- SE isnt good but no usf game is auto
- Wagner at Temple -- Wagner was good last year but rebuilding
- UMBC at Tulane

could be surprisingly competitive (projected good non brand mid majors)
UNC Asheville at UCF
Northern Colorado at Houston

Toss up
- Memphis at Vanderbilt - on paper memphis blowout win, but would have said the same about Georgia last year
- Tulsa at Oregon State - oregon state projected bad but so is tulsa

Major resume games
Florida State at UCF
SMU at Dayton

season defining winnable games as underdogs
Villanova at Temple
South Florida at Auburn

Here we frickin Go…

Pesik already hyping up Houston’s buy games to be title contenders… lol Northern Colorado is 231 in Bartovik’s preseason predictions. St Joe’s is 168!!!!

Lol, the yearly tradition

Blowhard gonna blow.

RE: *** Basketball News Thread (Part 4) *** - Tiger1983 - 10-15-2022 08:41 AM

On paper, Houston (6th in 2023 T-Rank) should blow out St. Joes (162th in 2023 T-Rank and picked 13th in the A-10) at a neutral site. The away game in Nashville matching Memphis (31st) against Vandy (74th) is objectively not in the blowout category.

I'm wondering what Pesik and others make of this - - particularly the fact that KenPom's ratings go against the grain of 10 CBS Sports and ESPN commentators, who predict that Temple will be the #5 team in the AAC, ahead of WSU and UCF?

KenPom's pre-season rankings also clash with the barttorvik.com rankings in the same respect.

Similarly, the collegesportsmadness.com top 144 has Wichita State and UCF ranked #106th and 119th - - #6th and 7th in the AAC, respectively.

KenPom's rankings are so far out of step with the others with regard to his #5, #6, and #7 picks in the AAC that it makes one wonder who's right and who's wrong. Is it possible that KenPom has some inside information that nobody else has?

^Tulane has appeared in CBS Sports and ESPN pre-season bracketologies as a "first" or "second four out" team, making them a likely NIT 1 or 2 seed if they don't receive a NCAA bid.

*UAB is predicted to be an 11 seed by both the CBS Sports and ESPN pre-season bracketologies.

This situation seems to bode fairly well for the likely stature of the "AAC 2.0" in 2023 and beyond. With rankings such as these, the AAC 2.0 would be fairly likely to earn two NCAA bids, and, in addition to have 2-3 teams in the NIT tournament.

Their median pre-season rankings are better than the AAC's final 2021-22 average Massey Composite ranking, suggesting that it might be possible for the AAC to maintain its stature as the nation's #7 conference even after Houston, Cincy, and UCF depart.

In sum, it appears a vindictive UIC lied and the consequence is Franklin’s season is in jeopardy.

Wichita will also likely be without Colby Rogers this year due to his previous coach.

Of all the things they reformed, they didn't remove the old coach from the waiver situation. No reason they should have a say

Good luck to that UIC coach in recruiting now.

Tough gig for those guys, but you can’t do this.

no one has gotten a waiver yet.. i expect a mass approval of waivers... no one seems worried about it

cincy- nolley
houston- mylik wilson
memphis- kendric davis, Damaria Franklin, Keonte Kennedy
usf- Tyler Harris
tulane - Tre' Williams
wichita- Gus Okafor, Colby rodgers
ucf - Michael Durr, Ithiel Horton & C.J. Kelly

*i asked compliance (grad transfers need waivers)

all of those players need waivers by bylaws... and i dont think anyone has gotten waivers in the AAC yet

not sure why damaria is being singled out... i guess the dad speaking out, and te doubt that he night not get it (im guessing old coaches supported the other 2)... but no one has waivers yet but everyone is moving like they intend to get one

RE: *** Basketball News Thread (Part 4) *** - justinhub2003 - 10-19-2022 09:16 PM

Seems like an announcement should happen at some point in the future that UC is returning to Jordan Brand for basketball and Nike for other sports.

It could happen as soon as next year in the big 12

UC and Houston would be the two Jordan schools in the big 12

According to the Daily Memphian, the Tigers are awaiting a decision for only Franklin and Young.
