Nice get. This is why I wasn't too worried for yall when a couple guys announced they'd be transferring earlier this week. Penny is going to feast in this transfer market.
Yeah you're right, I knew after last year bringing in two of the top transfers we would likely be fine again for this round. Good start, now an impact big and a winger will do wonders.

Is he a pg or sg

Based off his Hampton stats looks like a high usage SG. Dont know staff plan for him though.

Penny likes players able to man multiple positions and adapt multiple roles while defensively tight. I do not think the traditional understanding of positions apply.

Hell, Quinones and Baugh and Boogie and Lomax all played PG for us. I don't think it matters much to Penny.

Talent was there for y’all this season and last... Winning the NIT was good don’t get me wrong but the type talent Memphis hauls in and not going Dancing has to be a failure, I would think.

The season where we never got a chance to win the autobid and the #1 recruit was taken away from us? And this season where almost all of the games we lost besides Houston we were missing our engine in Williams because the NCAA dragged ass on clearing him? Or where if we had just gotten Houston at home and won the game we were still in despite the start?

RE: *** Basketball News Thread (Part 4) *** - Tigersmoke4 - 04-03-2021 08:48 PM

I think that Memphis and Houston are working towards the same elite level from different sides of the same hill. We started with elite recruits that were to young but would grow into the system, whereas Houston got tough gritty players that were prepared to run through a brick wall for their team. This season has shown that both ways are doable. We're both on the right track. Our two close games proved that. Now Sampson knows that he has reached his ceiling and now it's time for a major boost in actual talent, while Penny is seeing that he needs more battle tested warriors to mix in with his high level youngsters. We're both are heading towards elite status. The next couple of seasons are going to be amazing for the AAC especially if Cincy, Wichita and someone else can become upwardly stable. GO AAC!!04-cheers04-cheers

We need 4 bids a year from the AAC. Memphis needs to start pulling its weight. Getting out from under Pastner and Tubby has been hard.

4 needs to be the minimum. Houston and Wichita have been the most consistent bid contributers since WSU joined. Memphis is right there ... Just has to finally get over the hump and actually make it in. Gotta hope whatever is going on at Cincy doesn't take more than a year to recover. Then all we need is a couple of UCF, SMU, Tulsa, Temple to step up here and there. 4 shouldn't be hard from this leagues. Gotta win our non-cons.

Easier said than done. I don't think there's any way in hell we get 4 in on a regular basis any time soon. I see 3 for now, at best: UH, UM, WSU. Who after that? SMU maybe?

UC seems in a mess for now. Temple is way down. Nobody else that close.

Also, all these schools except you guys are football schools, too. Nobody else is pouring everything into basketball.

Only a legit POV if you're a basketball only school, lol. Have you noticed our revenues compared to a lot of the competition?

Yes, it matters. Not an excuse. Tradeoffs every damn week. We tried to become a superstar through basketball and failed. Finally realized we had to pour money into football to survive, b/c that's where the money is now. The strategy worked, but basketball suffered for it.
