Mueller Subpoenas Trump Deutsche Bank Records - miko33 - 12-05-2017 08:17 AM https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-12-05/deutsche-bank-is-said-to-have-received-subpoena-on-client-trump Quote:Deutsche Bank for months has rebuffed calls by Democratic lawmakers to provide more transparency over the roughly $300 million Trump owed to the bank for his real estate dealings prior to becoming president. Representative Maxine Waters of California and other Democrats have asked whether the bank’s loans to Trump, made years before he ran for president, were in any way connected to Russia. The bank previously rejected those demands, saying sharing client data would be illegal unless it received a formal request to do so. Trump has denied any wrongdoing. What is Mueller's goal regarding this information? What do business dealings years before Trump runs for office have to do with Russian collusion? You would have to assume that either 1) Trump is compromised because he's protecting assets he owns in Russia or 2) Trump is compromised because he's done some nasty stuff in Russia and is being blackmailed if Mueller still believes in the Steele dossier and this is a "connect the dots" exercise. Any other theories would be more outlandish - like Russia was grooming Trump for being their Manchurian candidate for years. IMHO, this action is most likely linked to the FBI's working hypothesis that the Steele Dossier is legit. RE: Mueller Subpoenas Trump Deutsche Bank Records - UCF08 - 12-05-2017 08:24 AM It's possibly related to the theory that Russian oligarchs have been using Trump properties to launder money over the past decade. That would provide leverage that could be applied by Putin if need be. Either way, for an accurate look at someone's financials in a case like this, I'd imagine you need more than a snapshot. Maybe there's something to the theory you post; however, how would it fit with the story that Mueller is interested in Trump leveraging his properties to secure loans from the bank? I can't remember. RE: Mueller Subpoenas Trump Deutsche Bank Records - VA49er - 12-05-2017 09:18 AM Does a foreign bank have to comply with a US subpoena? RE: Mueller Subpoenas Trump Deutsche Bank Records - UofMTigerTim - 12-05-2017 09:57 AM What a mess. If Mueller finds something on Trump and it sticks then we have a constitutional crisis. If they find nothing on Trump then the FBI and Special Counsels are forever tarnished. The swamp is circling the wagons around their own, yet again. Not entirely surprising to see, seems this is going to pretty quickly degenerate into a battle royale between a Trump DOJ and this so-called Independent counsel. Which very clearly it’s not. I'm saying the Russian banking sector has a small number of players in which DB is a major part of it.
