G6 Race Shaping UpSo Far - DavidSt - 09-13-2026 05:26 AM USF 2-0 Tulsa 2-0 surprise team UTSA 2-0 UMass. 2-0 surprise team Western Michigan everybody are saying they won including a lot of Michigan fans. North Dakota State 3-0 New Mexico 2-0 Colorado State 2-0 App. State 2-0 Georgia State 2-0 JMU 2-0 Troy 2-0 9 AAC teams with 1 loss 5 CUSA with 1 loss UConn with 1 loss MAC with 8 with 1 loss 5 MWC with 1 loss Boise State 1-1 Fresno State 1-1 San Diego State 1-1 9 SBC with 1 loss UMass vs Western Michigan for the MAC title? That would be a good turn around. Who could have thought that Michigan and Ohio State at 1-1 and UMass at 2-0 this season starting? RE: G6 Race Shaping UpSo Far - Garden_KC - 09-13-2026 09:47 AM Sagarin Top 6 of the G6: 61 Boise State 65 New Mexico 67 South Florida 69 Western Michigan 71 Army 72 North Dakota State -Boise State's resume has tarnished with Oregon losing this week dropping to #33. -MWC looks strong so far with UNM and NDSU however the MWC's average should drop as all the data points connect. -Western Michigan still has to play Boise State yet and they have them at home. If WMU is as good as advertised they might be able to put themselves into the CFP driver seat with a win over Boise State. NDSU is looking very good in their first year of FBS. Doing better than I expected. RE: G6 Race Shaping UpSo Far - thrill_house - 09-13-2026 10:43 AM According to ESPN's FPI... American: South Florida (10.6%), North Texas (6.2%), Tulsa (3.9%), Memphis (3.2%), UTSA (2.7%), Tulane (1.6%), everyone else (0.5% or lower) South Florida does not play North Texas or Tulsa in the regular season. Their measuring-stick game will be October 8th at UTSA. North Texas plays at Tulsa on October 1st. C-USA: Delaware (1%), everyone else (0.2% or lower) They'll likely sit this one out. MAC: Western Michigan (5.1%), Toledo (1.7%), UMass (1.1%), Ohio (0.6%), everyone else (0.2% or lower) Broncos host Boise State on September 26th in a playoff elimination game for the MAC / Pac-12. Mountain West: North Dakota State (11.0%), New Mexico (10.9%), everyone else (0.3% or lower) October 24th is a must-see game between North Dakota State and New Mexico. If the Bison survive this trip, they'll run the table. Pac-12: Boise State (18.2%), Fresno State (2.6%), San Diego State (1.5%), Colorado State (1%), everyone else (0.3% or lower) It all comes down to "Will Boise see 11-1 through?" as they will have a lot of potential hiccups. Sun Belt: James Madison (7%), Appalachian State (3.5%), Louisiana (1.4%), everyone else (0.6% or lower) JMU travels to Boone on October 22nd for a Thursday night showdown that will likely decide the conference champion. The biggest tragedy in this sport is that there will be no MWC Champion vs. Pac-12 Champion game in Las Vegas during conference championship weekend. Instead, we're just going to watch recycled content / Round 2 of games that already happened this year. RE: G6 Race Shaping UpSo Far - quo vadis - 09-13-2026 11:48 AM The way I look at it is who is the front-runner? IMO right now it clearly is Boise, they have the ball and someone has to knock it out of their hands. As long as they keep winning, it will be them. Of course it is very early in this race, but that's where we are now. I do think USF is in the running, we're in the closest "chase group" so to speak, but we need help. Our biggest problem is our schedule is just so bad, both OOC and in conference, that we just cannot afford even the slightest trip up, and even that may not be enough. RE: G6 Race Shaping UpSo Far - HP-TBDPITL - 09-13-2026 11:58 AM I keep going back to the PAC-8 standings showing 4 teams at 0-2. Half the conference. The PAC-8 appears to be Boise in a runaway...but the Oregon loss to a school that middling Tulsa handled does not bode well. I think we found out in Denton yesterday that the Memphis win over UNLV didnt actually mean as much as originally thought. USF coming back and beating Army on the road was impressive. And FAU's first half against Navy was impressive. I think a lot of teams are trying to figure out their identities with all of these new players, but my gut is telling me, at least in the American to keep an eye on the programs with heavy recruiting in Texas and Florida so UTSA, North Texas, USF and FAU. Can one of these programs put it together and make a run? Outside of that...New Mexico is currently the 3rd rated defense in the country and is rolling in to Oklahoma this weekend...that would be interesting if they are putting things together. RE: G6 Race Shaping UpSo Far - Fighting Muskie - 09-13-2026 06:00 PM I dub the Boise St @ WMU game the Bronco Berry Bowl presented by Arby’s Jalepeño Poppers. RE: G6 Race Shaping UpSo Far - Fighting Muskie - 09-13-2026 06:02 PM I hope that this finally ends up being South Florida’s year. RE: G6 Race Shaping UpSo Far - bill dazzle - 09-13-2026 08:41 PM A crazy hypothetical but ... If Oklahoma State finishes, say 9-3 and in the Top 25 ... ... and Tulsa goes 13-0 (in this scenario, the Golden Hurricane would also have a win over Arkansas to go with the victory vs. OSU) Tulsa almost certainly would be the G6 team in the playoff But the chances of this happening are very slim. RE: G6 Race Shaping UpSo Far - 46566 - 09-14-2026 12:18 AM Sadly what kills UMass is the second FCS game next week. I struggle to see them being ranked higher then a 1 or 2 loss team. Tulsa if undefeated has 2 P4 wins but probably needs Arkansas to win a few SEC games to boost up that win. Assuming Tulsa wins RE: G6 Race Shaping UpSo Far - BePcr07 - 09-14-2026 12:53 AM The conversation will change weekly and will focus on undefeated and 1-loss teams. If a G6 has 2+ losses, they are effectively out unless only 2-loss G6 teams win their conference championship games. We have 11 undefeated G6 teams through Week 2. Here's how I'd rank them: 1. Tulsa (Oklahoma St, Sam Houston St) 2. Massachusetts (Rutgers, Sacred Heart) 3. North Dakota St (Jacksonville St, Fordham, Air Force) 4. South Florida (Florida International, Army) 5. Appalachian St (Maine, East Carolina) 6. James Madison (Liberty, Wagner) 7. Colorado St (Wyoming, Southern Utah) 8. UTSA (Texas - Rio Grande Valley, Texas St) 9. Troy (Sam Houston St, Alabama St) 10. New Mexico (Central Michigan, Mercyhurst) 11. Georgia St (North Carolina A&T, Kennesaw St) RE: G6 Race Shaping UpSo Far - Dukes_Royals - 09-14-2026 07:49 AM (09-14-2026 12:53 AM)BePcr07 Wrote: The conversation will change weekly and will focus on undefeated and 1-loss teams. Assuming Tulsa wins UMass is only a serious threat to make a bowl game at this point. WMU is the playoff candidate out of the MAC. Coming into the season they were the MAC favorite. RE: G6 Race Shaping UpSo Far - bill dazzle - 09-14-2026 01:53 PM I would surely think either James Madison or AppState might have a shot to rep the Belt. And North Dakota State for the Mountain West, and Western Michigan for the MAC There are so many variables and scenarios. Especially this early in the season where beating North Carolina A&T + Kennesaw State or Central Michigan + Mercyhurst gets you on this list. Yes---I know selecting an 0-2 team as a dark horse sounds odd, but they played very solid games in back to back kick offs against ranked P4 schools. I could see them coming into their own and being a real force during conference play.
