RE: *** Official 2024 Election Thread *** - TripleA - 11-12-2024 12:00 PM

Sean Duffy just had a minor spasm on Fox b/c he says two of the seats the Rs were leading, they are now trailing, and it looks like their total will be 220, assuming nothing else bad happens in the remaining races.

With Stefanik and Waltz out, the Rs will be right at the limit of 218 until special elections are held, making it almost impossible to get any legislation passed.

Those are the 2 reasons your candidate lost.

My vote had less to do with inflation (almost nothing actually), however it had everything to do with:

- The Border
- Throwing money away on Ukraine
- Middle East tensions in general
- Overreaction to Climate change

I will caveat the climate change item however. Throwing money at it is not going to change much of anything, especially when places like Chy-Na do nothing but offset anything everyone else tries to do, and one volcano eruption basically erases (times 1,000) any carbon savings you think you are making in minutes.

God forbid, people use common sense and simply not be wasteful of things or overuse things... you know, like flying 10's of thousands of miles all over the world to do concerts, or having dozens and dozens of private jets going to 5 "climate concern" conferences per year.... And maybe recycle when possible.

The Biden Administration and his party is a gigantic Grift Festival.

Do I think there will not be dumb spending in the Trump Admin - of course not, but I do know A LOT of the pork is gonna get looked at and cooked!

And while my vote had a little of what you and Triple A have said in it, 90% of the reason I voted Republican was because our nation was in an ever weakening position relative to our adversaries who were all getting cooperation from one another against us. If my children and grandchildren are to have a future we can't have a Marxist cuck in the White House, and our military needs to be hard as steel instead of having a Front Line of oodles of Corporal Klinger's in it.

RCP still has the Republicans ahead in 2 of the 5 California races outstanding.
2-3 days ago the Democrats went ahead in 1 of the 3 they are leading, but 4 of the 5 have stayed pretty constant since election day. Previously there were 8 close race. Two the Dems lead and 1 the Republicans lead, each by about 3 points, have been called.

I agree with this, as well. I just don't think the majority of indies who voted for Trump did so for the long view. I actually did, but I don't think we are in the majority.

ALL politicians are in it for themselves ALL OF THEM... see congressional insider trading for one obvious example.

The one difference between Trump and Elon versus the likes of Harris, Pelosi, Schumer etal..... is one very important word ---- ONLY.

Trump and Elon are in this for themselves AND want to elevate everyone else along with them.

The Dems ONLY want gain for themselves, and if it just happens to benefit the peasants as well, that's a bonus.

I hope Elon and the MOB become gajillionairs because our lives will ALSO be that much better as as result.

That feckless C**t Pelosi became a multi-multi million-air over the last 30 years and hasn't done jack schidt for anyone of any real substance.

Dude, you'll never see it. But trump only cares about himself. He doesn't give a **** about America...other than how much money he can make while living here...and he certainly doesn't give a **** about you. 07-coffee3

Wouldn’t he have made more by never running for POTUS and destroying his brand to 50-55% of the country?

I actually don’t question his motives at all. I think he does love the country. Now you can say his vision of how it should look is stupid or incorrect, but he’s lost more by being in the political spotlight.

I think it’s funny how people who hate Trump never bring up career congresspeople, who have leeched off the system for decades and have done nothing to improve the lives of ordinary people. Somehow they all get a pass because Trump exists.

I think he's made plenty of money off being president. Also, he's got all the money he needs...so the power play is also part of his motivation. Perhaps he did lose some money in his first term, but I bet he wasn't thinking he would...and the motivation to stay out of jail was a big factor in him running again this time.

But make no mistake, he's a full-fledged narcissist...and yes...most all politicians are, but he takes it to a new level.

And you've not listened to a word I've said here over the years if you think for one second I've given the grifters in congress any quarter. My idea for quite awhile now is to make congress truly a public service. Take away the salary, no fund raising, not stock investments, give them a stipend for lodging and travel while in office, etc. and give them a modest pension if they stay in long enough.

Trump had it at 1.4%.

These people consider it "fixed" because its lower than last year....

while people are still fighting the 9% (which is joke when it comes to what we buy most) over the previous 24 to 30 months.

They cant be this dumb to not understand that just because its lower than last year, still higher than the 2% goal, but lower than 9%...

means its fixed

But sometimes that needs to happen in order to move forward. The Democrats need to do the same.

- Abandon the racial/gender pandering for votes.
- Go on independent media and talk about ideas with people like Rogan. There are many outlets like this.
- Become the party for fresh ideas versus “we’re not trump so vote for me”
- Work with Trump on overlapping ideas.

I don’t think they will do any of this, but if they did, I would definitely be more open to voting for a Democrat moving forward.

Yeah, they're going to definitely be doing some soul searching. But it is probably a little early to say that something like not going on a podcast was really a big issue, or even a small one.

It could be something as simple as how people viewed the economy all by itself. Even though the economy is fine and the envy of the world, people aren't that nuanced. There was likely not much the Harris campaign could do to change peoples feelings on that...especially with little time. And Biden did her no favors, along with the DNC, who suck ass at explaining things in a way anyone who doesn't follow closely can digest.

That being said, I have little to no faith the "leadership" of the DNC will figure it out.

I agree that the fundamentals were against the incumbent. If Trump couldn’t fix 40 year high inflation, two year real wage decline, and chaotic wars… he likely loses with a decent D candidate.

I brought up independent media because younger men consume that more than cable or network tv. You cannot lose 60% of the white male vote and win an election. It looks like the electorate is becoming more balanced in terms of race/gender. It’s becoming less about right vs left, and now working class vs white collar.

I think people are thirsty for an environment that is predicated on ideas and less about immutable characteristics. Long form podcasts are replacing the 15 second sound bite, and that’s a good thing.

Interesting you mention this.

Biden "fixed" inflation, and wages have been outpacing inflation since February of 2023.
https://www.statista.com/statistics/1351276/wage-growth-vs-inflation-us/#:~:text=U.S.%20inflation%20rate%20versus%20wage%20growth%202020%2D2024&text=In%20August%202024%2C%20inflation%20amounted,wage%20growth%20since%20January%202023.

And sure, you can certainly use independent media more, but do we really know if that actually moved the needle?

Well - inflation cannot be fixed after the toothpaste is out of the tube. It took the administration and the Fed too long to acknowledge and address the obvious increase before the peak.

I prefaced my comment with “two year real wage decline.” And the cumulative real wage growth hasn’t offset the inflationary period yet. Couple that with really anemic job growth, especially in the private sector… that’s why people feel like the economy sucks. It’s been a K-shaped recovery. The job gains have been overrepresented by part time/gig work.

The last thing democrats should do is ignore the voter and try to educate them on why they’re wrong on the economy.

You don't put inflation back in the tube. That's not really a thing. If you do, you have deflation...which is an economic nightmare.

Check again. 01-wingedeagle

trump didn't "have it" at anything. He didn't do anything to adjust inflation to a set number...that's not really a thing...just as Biden didn't "jack it up."

border
no war
fix inflation

Now if these stupid ass republican start adding billions in for republican right (of yesterday not today) that might not happen

The federal budget will never get cut because it’s political suicide.

Trump doesn’t have the burden of reelection to worry about, so if the GOP was ever going to seriously do it, now would be the time. That would also mean reforming entitlements. Doubtful.

They will cut some BS programs and push it through, but the overall spending will continue to rise because of SS Medicare and Medicaid

One mans pork is another's tax credit because he has a child...

both are pork they just dont see it as "my pork" is not pork

I dont see the next four years budget being cut because the one thing Trump isn't is a "cut the budget" President. Nope if any gains are made it will be with NEW taxes coming in from hopefully a economy hitting on all cylinders.

Well I’m agreeing that it won’t be cut for those same reasons you mentioned.

But if the GOP truly wanted to make the cuts and bite the bullet during 26 midterms, they could absolutely do it. I don’t think it’s in the agenda any longer though unfortunately. Even conservatives have basically given up on this idea

But they won’t, which is why it’s political suicide.

The dumb spending has been over the top.

If I had to list my reasons, it would be:
1) protecting the bill of rights, especially 1 freedom of speech and 4th through 8th on criminal rights.
2) inflation
3) illegal immigration
4) crime
5) ending wokeness in the federal government and attempts to force it on schools, states and corporations as well as the military
