We sure as hell won't play a road game...nothing to gain.

Teams like UAB and USM don't get many chances to play ranked teams.

You can speak for you...but I bet we could get MTSU in Nashville...perhaps USM in Southaven MS...maybe Tupelo MS.

Or WKU in Nashville.

Problem is we have to play 18 games at FEF...18 game conference schedule only leaves us room for 3 OOC road games per season (if we don't do a OOC tourney)

I don't see why they would agree to it. Why pay a school to play them at a neutral site location?

To get a chance at a potentially ranked team, at a neutral location, on TV.

Plus the CUSA teams get to keep the gate...and TV proceeds.

it would be dumb of any Cusa school to pay Memphis to play at a neutral location... If Memphis wants the money they can play on the road.

Really?

Let's say USM plays Memphis at the Landers Center in Southaven...Memphis fans will pack the place...Memphis gets $122,750...USM gets the gate $160,000 (~8000 tickets at ~20 bucks a ticket)...USM also gets any TV money made.

USM would get more money, and a shot at Memphis on a Neutral court.

and USM has to pay for Memphis' travel, their travel and rental of the facility. What TV money are you talking about? If the game was even picked up for TV, it would be a part of the conference's TV package. They are way better off just playing a home game against a random team. I don't see why any school would agree to a neutral site game.

I've been reading about this deal for a couple of days now. What I haven't read/heard is why was this offered to Memphis?

.....or is it available to all departed programs?

And that's fine too...I'm just as happy leaving CUSA for nothing...think of the NCAA credits as some cash on the nightstand.

My guess it will be just USM home and home.

yes ,that would rock04-rock

I'm pretty sure Tupelo is much closer to Memphis than Birmingham. I would go with Nashville instead of Tupelo.

Tupelo is almost exactly between the two cities...and BancorpSouth Arena is nice...by nice I mean easy parking, cheap beer, and good sight lines.

Playing Memhis is a nice RPI boost but I wouldn't necessarily make any concessions to play them. There are bigger fish in the pond.

I could give a flying ph**k if Memphis and UAB never played again and I know many Memphis posters that feel the same. There are only a few teams that UAB should do 2 for 1's or 1 for no return games with and Memphis is not one of those teams.

For both UAB and Memphis, an excuse to get out of town as a reason not to have to watch a bad football game at home.
