NBC Sports preview- plus lets put our fearless predictions here!
http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.c...o-tourney/

not sure anyone saw this..... great write up for league...

even if the Dunn injury drops Providence from 5 to 7- that would put Xavier at 6. Xavier I think at 6 has a real shot at the tourney- maybe more than any team that could realistically finish there. Real good OOC schedule.

RE: NBC Sports preview
Swap Marquette and Villanova and you'll have something closer to a realistic assessment of who to beat. I don't have much to pick on with this list otherwise.

RE: NBC Sports preview
I don't see Marquette at 6th at all. Neither do I see Nova 1st quite frankly- I'm not sold on them as much as others are. I mean, 38-44 the last 82 games. I have them pegged at 4th behind Marquette, Creighton, and Georgetown(those 3 I see pretty interchangable).

My prediction would be
1 Georgetown
2 Creighton
3 Marquette
4 Villanova
5 St John's
6 Providence
7 Xavier
8 Seton Hall
9 DePaul
10 Butler

I think Butler is going to struggle big time this year in conference play.

GU *could* be the best team in the league by a margin this year, but i'm not counting on it. I love Starks and think he's severely underrated nationally, as is DSR (I would put our guards at top ten in the ncaa), and i love Smith's potential, but there are too many other ? marks for me.

Can Cameron/Domingo come in and spell who, Trawick? at the 3 and show some shooting potential? If Smith can give us some real minutes, can we slide Hops over to the 4 and let him play where he should be playing? I'm disappointed Whit is out, with him we'd have final 4 potential.

I look for a team like Provvy or the Johnnies to surprise us all

RE: NBC Sports preview- plus lets put our fearless predictions here!
I kind of like Xavier as a sleeper team this year. We'll know a lot early on them- how about this 1st 5 game stretch- St John's, Butler, Marquette, @ Creighton, and Georgetown. If they can survive that, wow. Looking forward to next Tuesday to see them vs Tennessee.

The schedule for Georgetown is something. Have 2 huge stretches. First one is Marquette, @ Creighton, Villanova, and Mich St at MSG. Then 2nd one is @ Marqutte, Creighton, and @ Villanova(with Xavier leading that one off). Other than those 2 stretches, don't play another ranked team from Dec 21 on. That's tough to me.

we're used to those stretches at this point though. Markel and Nate have been through the ringer a few times and they'll have us ready i hope.

We really sht the bed with Semaj....i know we were looking at offering him at one point and either didn't or did too late in the game. The kid is sick.

The thing though I don't remember us having most all of the tough teams in 2 stretches like that. Look at our schedule last year. We never had more than 2 ranked/teams receiving votes in a row. Always after 2 games had a USF, Seton Hall, Rutgers, DePaul to play.

I'd kind of guess if St John's got up to 3rd, that Lavin would get a lot of consideration for Coach of the Year.

Marquette 6th? =/

Sounds about right to me for a team that just lost 3 starters. Add it's not like they're bringing in Andrew Wiggins or some other immediate impact player.

You're looking in the rear view mirror. Going forward, why does Marquette stack up better than they do?

Agree on PC & SJU, but Georgetown will be right there again. Even without Porter they still have a ton of talent.

I'm not as sold on Nova, St John's, and now especially Providence as some are. I think Buzz can coach quite well.

It's not just you, bit everyone seems to be picking Marquette because of Buzz. I don't understand when he became the 2nd coming of John Wooden. There's a lot of love for Buzz after the Elite 8, but Marquette didn't look so good when they went one and done in the Big East tournament after tying for the regular season title.

7. Xavier
8. Seton Hall
9. Butler
10. DePaul

You know Marquette lost it's two best players before last season right? Everyone said they would fall off and didn't. It's the same story every year. "Marquette lost so and so, they wont be as good." Then they go and win the league or finish in the top 3.

So, the fact that they overcame significant losses last year means they'll automatically do the same this year? Is there some kind of magic in simply putting on the Marquette uniform?

The fact is that they have significantly more rebuilding to do than teams like Georgetown, Villanova, Creighton, St. John's, and Providence. Maybe they'll repeat what they did a year ago, maybe they won't. But until they do, this new group hasn't proven anything
