Bowl Possibilities after games of 11/2
2 Teams are now Bowl-eligible: Louisiana and Texas St.

Louisiana: 6-2 overall (3-0 SBC)
Games Left: Home (2)-- Troy, ULM
Away (2): Georgia St., South Alabama
Wins needed to get bowl eligible: BOWL ELIGIBLE

Troy: 5-4 overall (3-2 SBC)
Games Left: Home (1): Texas St.
Away (2): Louisiana, Mississippi
Wins needed to get bowl eligible: 1

South Alabama: 3-5 overall (1-3 SBC)
Games Left: Home (2): ULM, Louisiana
Away (2): Navy, Georgia St
Wins needed to get bowl eligible: 3

Arkansas St.: 4-4 overall (2-1 SBC)
Games Left: Home (2): Texas St. and Georgia State
Away (2): ULM, WKU
Wins needed to get bowl eligible: 2

ULM: 5-4 overall (3-1 SBC)
Games Left: Home (1): Ark. State
Away (2) South Alabama, Louisiana
Wins needed to get bowl eligible: 1

Texas St: 6-3 overall (2-2 SBC)
Games Left: Home (1): WKU
Away (2): Ark. St., Troy
Wins needed to get bowl eligible: BOWL ELIGIBLE

Western Kentucky: 5-4 overall (2-3 SBC)
Games Left: Home (1): Arkansas St.
Away (2): Army, Texas St.
Wins needed to get bowl eligible: 1

Georgia State: 0-9 overall (0-4 SBC)
Games Left: Home (2): Louisiana, South Alabama
Away (1): Ark. St.
Wins needed to get bowl eligible: Cannot get bowl eligible

2 teams bowl eligible at this point: Louisiana and Texas St.

Here is my best prediction for the final records for the other 6 teams:
Troy 5-7
South Alabama 5-7
Arkansas St. 6-6
ULM 7-5
Western Kentucky 6-6
Georgia St 0-12

So by my call there will be 5 SBC teams bowl eligible: Louisiana, Texas St., ULM, Arkansas St. and Western Kentucky

We will see over the next few weeks how this plays out.

This thread should be called bowl ELIGIBLE possibilities. Either that or start talking about what it's going to take for certain teams to actually make a bowl game since it looks like only 2 Sun Belt teams will actually go this year. 3 max.

Your situation makes a very odd situation for the bowl picture. Louisiana is heading to New Orleans, but with Troy and USA out for Godaddy, and 4 others eligible, it makes for a very odd picture between ULM, Texas State, WKU, and Arkansas State. I would guess that the SBC office would vehemently oppose a 6-6 WKU team getting the invite, so I'd guess it'd come down to stAte, ULM and Tx State. ULM has the distance advantage, stAte has the fanbase, and Tx State has the market being between Austin and San Antonio. I don't mean this as a slight to ULM, but I think it would come down between stAte and Tx State for that last spot erring on the side of stAte.

1) Congrats on the win.
2) Don't feel too special. Lots of teams feel like they figured out their season after beating us (CUSA leading teams and teams leaving for CUSA not included).
3) I hope you do make it to 9-4, but beating USA in a close game doesn't really mean much.

If USA can ever figure out how to play 60 minutes of decent football, they'd be great. But we can't.

Maybe we can beat Navy in two weeks. We're not giving up, but it's just disappointing we can't seem to finish this year.

Depends on how you finish. I think you guys could be sold over a ULM team that does not travel well, but ASU has the advantage of selling 10K tickets to Mobile the last two seasons. You're going to want to finish ahead of both teams record wise to lock it up.

Cinderella doesn't sell tickets.

ULM didn't exactly put up an impressive show in the I-Bowl last year, and they can be in Shreveport in about an hour or so drive time. Convincing the Go Daddy bowl that they could make a 4 hour trip will not be easy.

Not being able to house and feed your players for two weeks ought to tell you something..
Im not arguing.. I just thought that board members wanted us to coddle them now?(especially all the meanies from Lafayette) Is that not the case?

I would agree with this, I think ULM has to be a no brainer for a bowl right now because of the fanbase size and market size. Both end up working negatively against them when pitching themselves to a bowl game. I don't think Tx State can sell Cinderella better than they can sell Market. They can claim to have penetration into 2 top 50 markets. stAte would sell tickets, Tx State would provide more TV's. This is all based on the idea that neither USA or Troy would get to 6, I think if either of them do, this is a moot point.

Depends on how Texas State and ASU finish. If either finish with an 8-4 record or better, they would most likely be in above USA and Troy. ASU has already beaten both of those schools, and Texas State would have beaten both in that scenario.

Go Daddy will sell a large number of public tickets regardless who plays there...the key is which Sun Belt team can help out the most.

ASU already has a great relationship with the Go Daddy. But we also have the hardest path to a 7 or 8 win season.

Last time I checked ULM controls their own destiny for a conference championship and a guaranteed slot in one of the (2) bowl tie ins for the Sun Belt.

All focus is 1-0 next week as Superman plays his last game at Malone against the other former Indians.

I think you realize that we wrote this off the assumption of what would happen should ASU win next week.

Browning has yet to beat ASU in his career. Lord knows he wants next week bad...

RE: Bowl Possibilities after games of 11/2

Both end up working negatively against them when pitching themselves to a bowl game. I don't think Tx State can sell Cinderella better than they can sell Market. They can claim to have penetration into 2 top 50 markets. stAte would sell tickets, Tx State would provide more TV's. This is all based on the idea that neither USA or Troy would get to 6, I think if either of them do, this is a moot point.

So pretty much, if the Cajuns get bowl eligible, they are all but guaranteed the NOLA bowl. If Troy or USA become bowl eligible, they are all but guaranteed the Go Daddy bowl slot.

Ultimately then, for NMSU, Idaho, ULM, stAte, Georgia Southern, App State, or Georgia State, our only shot at making a bowl realistically is to win the conference or pray that the above teams don't become bowl eligible?

Independence Bowl: 41,853
GoDaddy Bowl: 37,913
Little Caesar's: 23,310
New Orleans Bowl: 48,828

Paid attendance and actual attendance are two different matters. No one outside of UL-Monroe fans would argue there were 41,000 in attendance at the Indy Bowl.

All focus is 1-0 next week as Superman plays his last game at Malone against the other former Indians.

I think you realize that we wrote this off the assumption of what would happen should ASU win next week.

Browning has yet to beat ASU in his career. Lord knows he wants next week bad...

Fixed that I already had ASU with 2 losses, that won't happen until next Saturday. If you remember, Kolton did not play in the ASU game last year at all....it was our back-up.
