I rode out Watson and Callaway. I'm prepared to give McGee 4 years.
Bringing up the stadium when McGee is talking about building a TEAM is just dumb.

RE: Al.com "We are in the process of building something,"
I sick of hearing that we aren't being supportive. I've given to Blazer boosters, bought season tickets knowing that I would only make it to a couple of the home games, gone to UF,UT,SC,UCF and other away games. I drive 6 hours one way with 2 small kids and drop probably $500 to do so for the weekend, and I watch/listen to every game I am not at.
Because people criticize the coach, call out the leadership, point to deficiencies, etc. doesn't mean they aren't supportive. Your definition might be different but the fact that many people aren't invested financially, emotionally and physically prove that we are being supportive. Being tired of completely sucking and voicing it does not.

Riding out eleven years with Watson Brown(62-74), five years with Neil Callaway(18-42), and four years with Garrack McGee(5-14), with no effort from any of them to "promote" construction of an on campus stadium is just dumb.

*sigh*
He was asked a question at a press conference about THIS team. The one we're putting on the field THIS fall.
I promise you, you do do not want the football team playing home games on the south side one jot or tittle more than I do, but since Herb Harrison transferred, you have truly become a one-trick pony.
Do you really believe the people who read and post on this board are not aware of the fact that we need an OCS?
Really?

RE: Al.com "We are in the process of building something,"
Btw, my previous post is directed more towards MB than AB, who was posting his the same time as me.
The difference in what AB is saying vs MB has to do with people withholding their support whereas anytime someone comments critically of McGee or the state of things MB throws out the standard "you guys aren't being supportive". There's a difference and it's bs to keep using that tired response. If people hadn't been and weren't supportive, they wouldn't give F enough to be critical.

Really??? If the players are coming on here to get their guidance instead of listening to their coach then all is truly lost. And as for him communicating to his players via public statements and pressers, my advice would be to try communicating to them in team meetings, the locker room and on the field.

No, a piss poor fan would stay home and do something else during the game. I'll be driving from savannah to Bham Friday night and driving back home on Sunday.

Maybe I will, maybe I won't. I never said I was great fan. But I am and have been supportive and do plan on continuing that support. Attitudes like yours and cliquish nature of you and others are just as detrimental to people's support as anything said on here. I honestly don't believe you do hope that I "show the same dedication" because that reinforces your assertion that I am a piss poor fan.

With the right coach and financial commitment, we should be competing for CUSA Titles every year. We are located in the middle of a football hotbed! It's not like we are WKU or MTSU that has much fewer instate players to recruit. Alabama only recruits about 6-7 instate kids a year now. With a financial commitment to facilities, and a good coaching staff, we should be able to keep the better leftovers instate, and do pretty much what UCF and Louisville have already done.

RE: Al.com "We are in the process of building something,"
I wouldn't expect a relative of a player to follow a team as closely after that player has graduated. Especially travelling several hundred miles to attend a game.
I have no plans of attending my daughter's high school football games after she has graduated until the point in time when my middle daughter is in high school.
I will still keep up with them here & there though.
I believe that McGee is attempting to do some stuff to advance the program which is more than what I believe some of the previous coaches may have done.
You scratch your head on his handling of the QB's though & the way we don't seem to utilize the run like we should. We still are scoring enough points to win with a decent defense.
Problem is, our defense is not decent & needs a lot of help.
Let's see how McGee progresses the rest of the season & still realize that this isn't going to change overnight, but hopefully steps will be made in the right direction.
