The biggest diff right now in my mind is NIU = 5 road games Fresno = 2.

I hope everyone realizes you're wasting time worrying about the polls. NIU needs to win out and have Fresno lose. That simple.

The argument is we shouldn't need Fresno to lose. The votes they pick up each week don't make any sense considering both teams' opponents and the fact that we're usually doing it on the road. I feel like the amount they're gaining doesn't add up.

Agree, but we will also slowly move up regardless because the teams ahead of us playing each other. NIU just needs to win, everything else will take care of itself.
Next week games.
No. 20 South Carolina at No. 5 Missouri
No. 10 Texas Tech at No. 17 Oklahoma
No. 12 UCLA at No. 2 Oregon
#21 Neb. is playing AT Minn. (might be a close game)
Vanderbilt at No. 14 Texas A&M (Don't know how bad Manziel's injury is but if he doesn't play it be a different ball game)
And I'm calling for the upset this week of Fresno. SDSU has played MUCH better since they made a QB switch to Kaehler in the Ohio State game. When they played EIU, the QB Dingwell was/is just god awful.

+1 clc and 7 are both right, polls dont matter anymore except in the comparison between NIU and Fresno, but Fresno is getting completely unjustified credit.

Week to week it's just so crazy, SC likely out of the top 25 with 3 losses after Mizzou works them next week....Tex Tech could easily lose, UCLA gonna get worked....

Exactly. So as long as we take care of our business we will be in a good position ranking wise in the next two weeks going into the Balls game.

Yes it makes sense and adds up. Not sure how else to say it. Again, you can't live in a vacuum. Fresno is benefiting from more teams directly in front of them losing and generally winning by more impressive margins than we are, especially at the right time. We probably deserved to drop after escaping Akron, but we didn't. If we beat Idaho and Akron and EIU 61-14 (like they did to Idaho), we'd be in the top 20 already. There is ZERO excuse to not be able to roll up massive blowouts the next two weeks against EMU and UMass. They are both beyond awful and we need to win those with a 61-14 type of score.
There is no magic conspiracy or bias against NIU. The bias comes from most on this board who bleed red and black and live in an NIU vacuum. I suppose it's typical of any fanbase, I just try to mix my homerism with objectivity.
You could flip a coin and debate for ever whether Fresno or NIU is more deserving of a BCS bid at this point. Hey, guess what. If you put it to a vote on this board, NIU would get 95% of the votes. If you put it to a vote on the Fresno board, Fresno would get 95% of the votes. If you put it to a vote among people without any affiliation to either school, it will come in around 50/50.
It's also very unlikely that BOTH Fresno and NIU will end up undefeated. These things have a way of working themselves out.

I think something you just cannot avoid though with the humans, last year's Orange Bowl is hurting NIU, there is no question about it.

I think the fact that nobody really watches NIU and NIU hasn't been blowing out everybody AND Fresno had a higher preseason ranking is really what's up, not a nationwide conspiracy to put NIU back in it's place.
