RE: Stetson Billings
I enjoyed the release. From Joe's comments it appears that Stetson is doing just exactly what they want him to do. Good attitude. Be patient. Wait for your chance. He is the 3 of the future, in the Trojan Tough mold.

Great kid. Great attitude. If you recall, I've sung his praises every since he came, although some doubted he'd play at this level. I think with his size, strength, and attitude, he will be the logical successor to Fowler and Isler.

I doubt he will be a star offensively, but who knows? He scored a lot in HS.

RE: Stetson Billings
He might not be a big time scorer, but if he can play his role as a defensive stopper, give us some good rebounding, and score reasonably well, he'll have done his job. If he does become more of a scorer, that will just be icing on the cake.

How could I forget Alex. He was great. And a great guy. Glad to here he's making Little Rock his home (at least that's what I heard). If he is, I'm sure we'll see him at the games. And his beautiful bride!

Have you noticed how much he looks like Scotty Thurman? Now if he can shoot like Scotty, we'll really have something.

Wouldn't know Scotty Thurman if I ran into him. I'm sure I've seen his picture a million times in the Democrap, but never paid much attention to it.

Stetson still needs to put on a little weight/muscle.

At the same time, I wouldn't recognize most of the Trojans either. You don't often see Trojan pictures in the Democrap paper. It's hard to see their faces from the cheap seats. I do recognize Will when I see him. You don't see many 6'10" white guys walking around UALR. I won't even know Festus Hagins now that he's gotten a haircut.

I don't know. I saw him on a TV show about a year before he died, and didn't hardly know him. He looked like he was a hundred years old.

He might have been. Didn't "Gunsmoke" run about a hundred years?

Sadly, the 1st thing I thought was, "wow this kid does not have the foot speed to play d1."

The other thing was how can a kid that scored a ton of points in high school not show any signs of being able to score at this level?

I know he played 1 or 2 A ball but come on.

I pulling for this kid to make it but he looks like a great player for the gulf south than for the sbc

He is long and lean but foot speed is king a t this level.

RE: Stetson Billings
Obviously either his foot speed has improved, or your speedometer wasn't working correctly. Since the coaches see the kids every day, and we know that Steve stresses defense, Stetson must have made major strides in his ability to play and cover opponents, or Steve wouldn't be making such statements about him. I also believe we'll see more scoring out of him this year with his improved strength and knowledge of the game and Steve's system.

I didn't think he had the skill for DI either. But, I am slowly moving toward Dr. J's side. Coming from a low class of high school ball was a big adjustment. He wasn't someone who was going to step in and play a lot on this level. However, if he continues to work hard, which I think he will, he should be a significant contributer for Steve as a junior and senior.

"Significant" is the key word. He may not be a star, but can he give valuable minutes?

RE: Stetson Billings
How many minutes will he average this season? If he gets at least 15 minutes a game, that tells me he's ready for D1 ball.
