Producer said on Talking Dead that things are going to escalate quickly this season and that the season will be "emotionally difficult" Can't wait!

I'm sticking with the poisoning/sabotage thing for now.
I think his footprints are from the sweat that comes from the fever that death before the virus sets in.

It's swine flu. That's why they showed the pigs. Very transmittable and some strains can kill quickly. We don't know how long he had it before it got bad. He just put it into the water supply. Everyone is already infected with the walker virus, so that's no biggie. However a killer flu epidemic where everyone that dies can then change and kill/change others is a huge deal in an enclosed encampment.

RE: OT: The Walking Dead
I enjoyed the season premiere last night. Overall, I thought the story and various relationships worked. Portions of the episode (Big Spot helicopter scenes) seemed a bit cheesy. But it was the typical "a little too convenient" horror movie scene set up. Bob just happened to set a bottle down that caused some huge chain reaction. Don't think the bottles crashing would have caused the entire shelf to topple.
My question is why don't these people that go on "runs" have more body armor? We have seen time and time again that a simple fence can keep a large number of the walkers away...Why won't these people at least take simple tin sheets of metal or chicken wire to wrap around their hands, legs, arms, etc. ? Most of the bites on this show happen on the arms, necks, and legs of people.
I saw Glenn had some armor, but I would think more of them would want to better protect themselves...I'm sure they could come up with a lightweight armor set. They should also set up more traps that would draw
Also, I like the viral infection creeping up on the group. My guess is that someone is responsible for this and that it's not just some random occurrence. Should be a fun season.

Viral infection seems right, and a mutation of swine flu may be the answer. Wasn't the animal that Rick found, and the crazy woman tried to get, a dying boar? I think Pat's statement about thanking Darryl for the venison is significant too.
I am sensing some change in some of the zombies towards more intelligence. There were a couple of fence zombies that seemed to be more intelligent.

you are so right. Even newspaper wrapped around your legs under jeans would have prevented Kyle Gallner's death last night in the store. Denim is hard to bite into.
It seems that if they are truly scavenging, leaving the prison protected make sense.
Also, if Glen doesn't want Maggie knocked, I'd be willing to bet condims aren't that hard to find.

Good points, all.
Of note, last night's premier had 16.1 million folks watching it. That's HUGE. I would be interested in finding out what the highest-rated show of all time was; I'm too tired to look it up at this time.

Another good episode tonight. The folks that said the virus was transmitted via "normal" methods were correct.
Who fed the rat to the walker at the beginning of the show and who is burning the bodies?

I think it's the older daughter who feeds the walkers. The body burner has to be one of the counsel and a man. Could it be Daryl?

Maybe the doctor is the burner.

What a crazy episode. It did escalate quickly and will continue to escalate. I bet it's someone who we dont expect feeding the rats, and then someone else burning the bodies.
Did you see the talking dead, and the 7500 walkers. Where were they heading? was that the prison?

Maybe the doctor is the burner.
Maybe D'Angelo from The Wire did it. His instability is going to hit us in a weird way.

I think it's safe to assume that if they don't leave the prison that the herd will eventually overrun them. Its kinda been foreshadowed with the number of walkers gathering at the fences as of late

I think someone in the first episode said the town is overrun when asking about supply run. With it being 6 months after last season don't see them going back there.
They need more of a walled fort, not just fences.

RE: OT: The Walking Dead
I have no idea who is behind the body-burning and the walker-feeding. It almost has to be one of the main characters so that when discovered, the drama can be tuned up.
It'll be The Governor...
Regarding their next locale, they are supposed to go to a "Hilltop Community" soon, probably by the beginning of next season.
