It's not exactly "encouraging" to me, but yes I agree it does push us another step in that direction.

The kids would get the day off so they wouldn't see any religious celebration anyway.
Are you that paranoid about other religions that you don't even want the calender to say that it's a holiday?
You are one paranoid person.
What part of:
a) Nobody gets a Christian holiday off
b) muslim is the terrorist religion that tried to destroy our country
c) People try to remove anything Christian from our schools daily

The part where you're wrong. Except for A. That's mostly right, but funny enough, irrelevant.

Winter Break and Spring Break are not Christian holidays (and Easter is on Sunday so it's not really a day off)..
They called it Christmas Break long before Winter Break.

RE: Muslims: We want schools closed on our holidays
I don't really see a problem with this. In high school we did it a little differently. We had a few Muslim and Jewish kids that took their holidays off and they weren't counted absent. That seemed to suffice and I've heard no complaints about it.

Out of my bills, my wife, my jobs, and my life, an extra holiday or two that affects a county about 4 hours away from me is waaaay down on my list of worries.

It's called a slippery slope. It's called protecting an identity.
Would a school in Iran be willing to add Christian holidays amongst its celebrated time off?

Muslims: We want schools closed on our holidays
In Mobile County, Alabama, we got Monday-Wednesday off during Mardi Gras week in public schools. The private school I went to (which officially was secular) for grades 6-12 gave the whole week. The Catholic schools went back on Ash Wednesday and had Mass during school.
I know during the 1980s and at least part of the 1990s, the University of South Alabama did not take Martin Luther King day off because of having to fit both Mardi Gras and Spring Break. USA was on the quarter system at the time so I suspect that changed by the time they went to the semester system.

RE: Muslims: We want schools closed on our holidays
First it will be the Muslim holidays, then it will be breaks for prayer time, the it will be no Jews allowed in the classroom, and finally it will be no bacon cheeseburgers in the cafeteria. We all know they won't stop until they have it all.

Actually it is very relevant. I am hoping and praying that people like yourself will one day figure it out.
