We are still arguing about first game of the season, haha it was a neutral site but UK out drawed us by about 5k, so who cares how its counted? Its over and will never play UK again in Kentucky, Tenn, Alabama, etc, haha......As far as the game last night I am extremely impressed...I know Browning meant a lot but what has happened to all of Monroe's other players? They showed on a graphic last night that based on minutes, Monroe is the most experienced team in FBS...

Experience isn't everything. FIU was something like #4 in terms of experience last year and well you know how that ended.

Yes I do that is why I made the comparison in the offseason...College Football takes a little luck sometimes and bounces to go your way, looks like Monroe has not gotten any breaks this season either....

you can't get fired up in a thread just because every single outside poster is pulling for ulm.

it's gonna be that way in every single conference game. we're leaving and they want us to lose. i don't blame them one bit.

just enjoy the win homie.

I'm enjoying it. every minute of it. Let them pick against us, pull against us, cheer against us, give their all to watch WKU fall. When we win, I'll fling it all right back in their face.

Who was rooting against wku?

This whole conference is rooting for WKU to lose every single conference game.

More to do with your coach than you leaving.

Poor excuse for a role model for your players...

Hope neither wins another game.

holier than thou is to be expected from any school that didn't hire petrino mathenis.

i can live with holy rock-throwers for the amount of publicity we've gotten out of bobby.....98% of it has been positive. western could have never paid for the pub we've got out of this hire.

and right now he's 4-2 so i'm happy as a clam. even if he leaves after this year we got him for free.

my son goes to western. he's a junior. he doesn't use his professors as his role model. he uses me. (good or bad. ymmv) and after the 5k i just paid for his tuition/books this semester i don't recall seeing the line where they were charging for 'role model'.

i may have missed it.

I was very vocal during the time Prince Charming was dallying with ASU about the open coaching situation.

You don't know how happy I was when he (his wife) chose WKU.

One mans trash is another mans treasure.

If you are thrilled then good for you, but understand I'm not jealous or butthurt, simply relieved.

Petrino is what he is, and I am happy he's not our coach.

So everybody is happy on each side. I think that is the first time to happen on this forum.

Seems that way. He wouldn't have had the support of about half of our fan base, and would have had the support of about half the fans of the program he left, and would have had the support of none of the media in our state. A toxic mix. His wife was thinking ahead.

the great thing is he has the support of way more than half our fan base. the state media still loves him from the louieville days. we don't have the crossover pig fans that your fanbase has no matter how much state fans scream you don't so no worries there.

it really did work out best for all parties. i can't imagine what it would be like if all of this had went down at uk and then we tried to keep him in the state where the scandal went down.

we'll never get a hire on petrino's level again. it was a one shot deal and i hope it doesn't crash and burn but i can in no way predict it won't. as i said earlier....i'm happy as a clam right now.

RE: It's GAME DAY!! WKU @ ULM Predictions/Game Thread
ULM had a good student turn out and the pictures posted on page 6 or 7 are early because a lot more showed up....

If I had to guess without seeing the top on the west side 11,000 including a disappointing 60 to 70 WKU fans.

I have a question about the give away contest during the game for the student. Was this something special just to help the students attendance on a week day game or is it at every home game? If western did this we would probably have more students at the games...not that it's been bad this year. Western is getting right at 6,000 students.

Just so everyone knows what I'm talking about...ULM had at least 10 contest where they gave out gift cards (Mall, Book store...type cards) ranging between $100 to $500 dollars. Probably totaling $3,000 not counting the on field contest.

I'm sorry but ULM has some of the least talented contestants doing a couple of the on field contest...one for $500 and one for $15,000. One had a hoop laying about 25 to 30 yards away and the closest out of the 4 people to the hoop won $500.

contestant #1 a really tiny girl ...a 5 yard pass
contestant #2 a sissy guy who did a push pass 7 yards
contestant #3 heavy set girl maybe 8 yards...sideways
contestant#4 a stocky guy that was athletic (could tell by the way he ran on the field and held the ball) that got with in a couple yards of the hoop

Then the $15k punt, pass and kick contest.....

you punt the ball, then throw from where your punt ends and then kick a field goal...

punt went 10 yards, pass about 10 more and the guy tried a 80 yard fg that went maybe 3 yards :)

What fans that made the game were loud when ULM made some plays and I bet it really gets loud with 20 to 25k in the stands

ULM has the best tailgating spots of any school in the SBC ...the grove looks like it would be a special place on a weekend during a season were ULM was winning. Just like with other SBC cities ....great people everywhere

One question...why all the Ark fans? I'm going to start a new topic about this, not just ULM, but other SBC schools, on some of the things I noticed.

He is what he is. He's a skunk that is a good football coach.

I don't care for the smell associated with him, never did and I'm happy he's gone.

As for fans wearing other gear and talking coaches....it happens every day. I bet it even happens in lovely Bowling Green.

Somehow about 30,000 make it to the stadium in Jonesboro so we must not be doing too badly. ULM outdraws WKU.

We're all happy.

my son goes to western. he's a junior. he doesn't use his professors as his role model.

Petrino is what he is, and I am happy he's not our coach.

...and amen.

Do you know how many Ark fans (dressed as ASU fans) at the SBC basketball tourney came up talking to us about Bobby Petrino and worshiping him? Way more than you think.

Do you know how many Ark fans (dressed as ULM fans) came up to us on Thursday night talking to us about Bobby Petrino and worshiping him? Way more than you think.

It's funny that when you talk to fans that actually get out from behind their key boards and goes to the games .....

Bobby Petrino is like a god to them. I see ULM on the shirt, I see ASU on the hats and I hear...I'm a Ark fan come from their mouths and you got a helluva coach and I wish he was back Ark. It gets very confusing seeing ASU and ULM gear and the first thing I hear....I'm a Ark fan

I'm not knocking any other schools attendance or talking about wearing the other schools gear. Just the opposite. What I've noticed is that a fan will be wearing a ASU or ULM shirt and walk up and about the first words out of their mouths are ..."I'm a Ark fan". Obviously they must also be ASU or ULM fans or they wouldn't bought the gear or tickets to the game but....

I believe us message board people are only a small sample on the feelings of the whole fanbase. So while you might not like BP ..there's probably a lot more of the fans that love him and that's a word I hear...not just use to make a point. What I had in my mind from reading this and the ASU board doesn't match what we hear at the games. Did I make that clearer? I know I'm confusing at times.

Motorcycle boy apparently seems to be doing a better job than your coach.

You probably know more about Petrino than your rent a coach. Do asu coaches have offices? Or do they carry around tabernacle like tents like the Jews, not staying there long enough for a permanent structure.

You butthurt that our last two coaches were good enough to get SEC jobs and earn millions more than we could pay?

All the while, yours managed to be humiliated and unceremoniously canned.

Let's play the game before declaring whose is bigger/longer.
