RE: What are the best victories in your program's history?
The very first time UAB defeated Southern Miss after they'd been curb-stomping us for almost a decade....The win against "The Men Who Stare At Goats" (Troy) on a hail Mary pass in the final seconds. Beating "Moo-U" in 2004. The 13-10 victory over LSU in Baton Rouge over 10 years ago.

A couple that I remember... Southern Miss 03-nutkick in 2011. Wiki says #24 UTEP in 2005.

1. #12 ECU 37 vs. #21 NCSU 34 (1992 Peach Bowl) (top 10 finish)

3. ECU 24 vs. #8 WVU 3 (2008)
4. ECU 27 vs. # 17 VT 22 (2008 Charlotte)
5. #20 ECU 24 vs. #23 Pitt 23 (1991)
6. #23 ECU 19 vs. Stanford 13 (1995 Liberty Bowl)
7. ECU 31 @ #12 Miami 6 (1996)
8. ECU 41 vs. #22 Boise State 38 (2007 Hawaii Bowl)
9. ECU 38 vs. #18 Houston 32 (2009 C-USA championship game)
10. ECU 38 @ UNC 17 (1975)
11. ECU 23 @ #15 Syracuse 20 (1991)
12. ECU 55 @ UNC 31 (2013)
13. ECU 56 @ #24 South Carolina 42 (1994)
14. ECU 27 @ #22 Syracuse 24 (1995)
15. #20 ECU 13 @ #19 Missouri 6 (1983)
16. ECU 27 @ Tulsa 24 (2008 C-USA championship game)
17. ECU 31 vs. #22 TCU 28 (2002)
18. ECU 35 vs. Louisiana Tech 13 (1979 Independence Bowl)
19. ECU 33 vs. #25 NCSU 27 (2010)
20. ECU 40 vs. Texas Tech 27 (2000 Galleryfurniture.com Bowl)

Honorable Mention:

# 14 ECU 24 @ VT 17 (1991)
ECU 30 vs. WVU 23 (1999 Charlotte)
ECU 50 vs. NCSU 29 (1996 Charlotte)
#16 ECU 48 @ USM 20 (1991)
#21 ECU 23 vs. NCSU 6 (1999)

I'd add a few more notable wins to your list....

ECU @ Louisville (9-3) 2000
ECU @ South Carolina (6-5) 1996
ECU @ NC State (8-4) 1977
ECU vs Syracuse (6-5) in 2000
ECU @ Virginia Tech (6-4-1) 1989

Anytime you beat programs like that with winning records it's big win for the program. I think any BCS wins are but teams that were good especially.

RE: What are the best victories in your program's history?
I liked our 1987 win over Louisville in Louisville. We were a little 1-AA buy game for them and a 30 point underdog.

To me road wins are better than home wins, just my morbid joy of the pain for the home crowd. That's what was good about the KState win. They ended up winning the Big 12 that year and their crowd was just stunned. The most disappointing just miss was Ohio State in 2004 when they kicked a 55 yarder to beat us at the end of the game. That was 3 hours of the quietest 104,000 people you could ever experience. Nugent put that thing right down the middle though. Would have been good from 65. Heck of a kicker.

I would love to forget when your 3rd string QB (& coach's son I believe) lit up a David Garrard led ECU. Unfortunately, that memory is scorched into my brain because it cost us dearly. I think you guys kept us from winning the C-USA championship at least 2 or 3 times.

Has UAB ever defeated another ranked team?

That is still my favorite game of all time followed by the 2009 mississippi southern game. Lsu at lsu and mi$$st @ mi$$st come in @ 3rd and 4th

For UTSA I bet most Runners would say:

1) Texas State in 2012 (Texas State is a rival/grudge match)
2) South Alabama in 2012 (long field goal as time expired to win)
3) UTEP/New Mexico in 2013 (UTEP was our first CUSA win, New Mexico was a great way to start the season)

We don't have much of a history so far. = )

That sounds good on the surface but you guys have only beat 2 BCS schools with a winning record in the last 25 years

10-2 FSU in 1989
8-5 Virginia in 2012

The others

3-9 Kansas in 2010
3-9 Virginia in 2009
5-6 Nebraska in 2004
5-7 Illinois in 2002
4-7 Okl State in 2001
3-8 Alabama in 2000
3-8 Okl State in 2000
4-7 LSU in 1994

People really need the records teams finished with for context IMO.

Okie State, LSU, Georgia, Auburn, Illinois, NC State, Louisville (on the controversial fake punt Mills Kills play),
Louisville when Favre threw an apporx 65 yd TD on last play of game and a game that is now known as Miracle at Louisville,
Louisville and Howard Schnellenberger at The Rock when Schnellenberger blamed 'the moon over Hattiesburg',
ECU game in Greenville when Favre led a last-minute comeback win and a WR said he "heard the ball whistling as it was coming toward him",
ECU game in Greenville when Southern Miss won on a field goal after the TD was called back for a forward lateral (this game led to a rule change the following season),
Pitt in the 1997 Liberty Bowl, TCU and Ladanian Tomlinson in the Mobile Bowl,
#9 TCU to win C-USA championship and knock them out of BCS bowl,
beating #6 Houston in C-USA championship game in 2011, and
whichever team we beat next.

RE: What are the best victories in your program's history?
Here are just our BCS win over winning teams the last 25 years

10-2 Syracuse in 1991 (finished #11)
10-4 Virginia Tech in 2008 (finished #14)
9-4 Miami in 1999 (finished #15)
9-3 Miami in 1996 (finished #14)
9-3 Syracuse in 1995 (finished #16)
9-4 West Virginia in 2008 (finish #23)
9-3 NC State in 1991 (finished #24)
9-4 NC State in 2010 (finished #25)

7-5 South Carolina in 1994
7-6 Texas Tech in 2000
7-4-1 Stanford in 1995
6-4-1 Virginia Tech in 1989
6-5 South Carolina in 1996
6-5 Pitt in 1991
6-5 Syracuse in 2000

8 finished ranked even with a loss to us. No one in the non BCS has as many BCS wins as we do. I saw that on some blog a few years ago. We had a third more than the next closest team which was BYU.

For UAB, I would say (in no particular order):

2000: UAB- 13, LSU- 10 AWAY
1999: UAB- 36, #17 ECU- 17 HOME
2004: UAB- 27, Mississippi State- 13 AWAY
2004: UAB- 41, TCU- 25 HOME
2005: UAB- 35, #25 UTEP- 23 AWAY
2003: UAB- 24, Baylor- 19 AWAY
2004: UAB- 56, Baylor- 14 HOME

However, we are probably known just as much for some of our "near misses" as we are our wins... unfortunately for us.

2003: UAB- 13, #4 Georgia- 16
2005: UAB- 10, #3 Tennessee- 17
2006: UAB- 17, #10 Oklahoma- 24

Talk about near misses & you open up a can of worms for ECU.

In 1983 alone we lost only 3 games all in the state of Florida @ #7 Florida, @ #5 Fla St. & @ #1 Miami by a combined 13 points. We always say that we were two TDs away from a Nat'l Title that year. We also beat NC State, Mizzou (beat #11 Oklahoma & was a Holiday Bowl participant), Temple & USM (blew out Ole Miss, Miss St, & Louisville combined 85-16 & finished 7-4) all on the road that year. That's a brutal schedule all away from home. We only had 4 home games that year. Somehow we managed to end the season ranked in the top 20 (there was no top 25 back then) but we didn't even get a bowl invite because there were only like 8 bowls at the time. Here's the proof below.

Meh....

meh???? are you kidding me? that was one of the greatest UAB football games ever. ranked conference foe that had beaten West Virginia, Duke, South Carolina, and Miami comes into Legion Field. Rodregis Brooks goes down with a neck injury in the first half and is taken off strapped to a board and rushed to the hospital. the x rays show its nothing serious and he is rushed back to legion field for the second half. At the hospital they cut off his jersey to do the x rays and they did not have a replacement in the locker room. they go into the stands to his mother who is wearing his home game day jersey from last season and give it to Rod to wear. He then returns a punt 59 yards to set up one touchdown and follows with a 91 yard interception return for a touchdown to put the game out of reach. Oh yeah our starting QB was out with an injury as well. if Hollywood made a movie with that plot the audience would riot because it was too unbelievable and your opinion of the game is "meh". I hope the problem is that you are simply ignorant as to events that took place during the game. If not you are just an idiot.

That Mobile Bowl was a really great game. I remember talking about the game beforehand with some stupid friend of my mother-in-law. TCU was something like #11 in the country, maybe higher, and USM was unranked, but the betting line favored USM... maybe it was a pick 'em. In any case, friend-of-M.I.L. decides to place a quick bet on TCU based on our 5-minute "where y'all headed?" discussion. That USM team was probably as good as anyone in the country on a good day.

Yes I am. I was at that game and was sitting behind Brooks mom when he got hurt. Just stirring the pot with ECU posters so as you were.
