vs FAU
At this point I see it being a close game and UAB losing at home.
And in other great news, right now there is a 60% chance of rain, another attendance killer.
If it wasn't for bad luck UAB football would have no luck at all.

RE: vs FAU
On the video for McGee's monday presser, he said he doesn't worry about our offense.
FAU's strength is their defense, while their offense has struggled.
UAB has shown that we are usually a much better offensive team, but a weak defense.
It will be an interesting matchup with UAB's strength against FAU's strength and UAB's weakness vs FAU's weakness.
I think it will be a 28 to 24 or 31 to 28 type scoring game.
While FAU isn't an LSU or Vandy, I would say they are likely on par with Troy, and that game didn't end well for UAB.
It will be a close game and until we show we can win close games, I am still doubtful of our team.
If we lose this game, we will have dug a big hole, bigger than the Troy loss, that we likely won't be able to climb out of.
The next 4 games are vital.
at home vs FAU
on road vs FIU
off week
on road vs UTSA
at home vs MTSU
because after that we then have 3 of the best teams in the conference and then finish against So Miss, who no matter what record, will be a challenge.
If we can't do well this week and next, we likely have no chance of having a better record than last year.

We can't control the rain, they can't tell this far ahead anyway, but I think UAB wins a close one at home. FAU has lost some close ones, and is physical on defense. Pelini has done a pretty nice job down there. I expect a 28-24/31-24 type win.

RE: vs FAU
According to accuscore.com, UAB is a solid favorite with a 66% chance of winning. Here's an interesting quote on turnovers:
UAB has a 28% chance of forcing more turnovers than they commit. Positive turnover margin helps them win 81% of the time.

RE: vs FAU
Here is FAU results so far this year.
L to Miami (FL) 34-6 on the road
Notes: FAU had 250 yards, 33:18 time of possession and both FAU and Miami had 1 turnover
L to ECU 31-13 on the road
Notes: FAU had 3 turnovers to ECU's 2, FAU t.o.p 34:03, had 282 total yards
W @ South Florida 28-10 on the road
Notes: FAU had 1 turnover to USF's 3, t.o.p.. 29:31, had 228 total yards
L to Middle Tenn 42-35 (OT) at home
Notes: FAU gain 503 total yards and had t.o.p. 32:11 but had 5 turnovers to Middles 2 turnovers
L to Rice 18-14 on the road
Notes: FAU gained 366 yards to Rice 273, but had 4 turnovers to Rice's 1.
While it seems that FAU can move the ball, they always start slow on offense and usually slow on Defense (USF scored all 10 points in the first quarter) so getting up in points early is important. FAU is not a team built to come from behind. Also FAU has had a number of turnovers so far this year. UAB needs to capitalize on that.
I think the first quarter of this game will tell you what will likely happen for the whole game.

We will find out what 81% is on Sat afternoon. If we play a complete, 4 quarter game, we will win and look good doing it.

RE: vs FAU
The problem historically for us is that we have a very slow 1st quarter as well, before playing a really good 2nd quarter. If we can jump on them early (like Marshall last year) that bodes well.

We also tend to have less points at the end of the 4th quarter.

By the end of the day, UAB will be sitting at 2nd in the East, 0.5 games behind the ECU/MTSU winner

Yep, lost at home, close the whole game, then fell apart at the end.
Its gonna be a short football season, we have 1 more home game then Basketball starts. Except for players family I don't think we will have anybody caring or thinking about UAB Football after that.

I just came from "Lesion" Field...There's no word in the English language that can describe how disgusted I am...UAB's defense was absolutely atrocious today! Atrocious!
