Dumbest comment ever made. K State had entire fall camp to think about ND State.

No, it's not the dumbest comment ever made.

Long story, short: I've read many of your comments.

Have an acquaintance on the Ga. State staff. None of us will ever understand truly what they inherited from talent, administrative and a facilities (non gameday) standpoint. Chattanooga has some talented players this season (even if they woke up drunk and nude in their car) and will be competitive in the Southern Conference.
I think most Ga. Southern fans get it, the next few years will be challenging for both them and App, though App may have a few more issues than Ga. Southern.

I don't know why some Eagle fans can't figure out where certain posts go.

Anyway, I expect the first few years for GSU to be like playing Appy during their glory years (which weren't that long ago) every week (except GaSt).

We have 1 FCS opponent next year and open on the road against NCST and GT. Then a full SBC schedule. We'll have a new starting QB and our defense has to improve. I don't think we'll be 0-12, but going better than 7-5 will take a lot of GATA and a little luck.

Go Eagles! and Go SBC!

Without knowing your conference schedule, its hard to make a full prediction, but I imagine Georgia Southern will win around 4 games next year...maybe 5 depending on which league teams you draw.

For GSU fans, that might be a tough year, but in reality its puts you in perfect position to make a bowl game within a year or two of becoming fully eligible.

For GSU fans, that might be a tough year, but in reality its puts you in perfect position to make a bowl game within a year or two of becoming fully eligible.

Four.. Maybe 5?

This is why I think some of you are in for a shock.

First OOC:
we have the Duquesne game that makes one.
NC is a very winnable game, they almost lost to Richmond last week!
The Navy game will be tooth and nail, but I believe we are going to win that one this time. Only lost 13-7 last time and I think we will be better next year than that year.
Then the GT game. The Master v/s the Student. Monken knows the GT offense in and out. But we might have a few wrinkles that PJ wont be ready for. I expect a close game that could go either way.

At the very least I think we will win one of those other OOC games and maybe two - bringing us to possible 2-2 or 3-1.

Then there is our side of the conference: Assuming they are going to go East/West. So that is USA and GAST.

That should bring us to 4-2 or possibly 5-1.

So who is left? App State? That is a 50/50 shot at worse case and that is looking better everyday.
So this becomes 4-3 or perhaps 6-1.

Then there is Troy, a team that we have more in common with than we know. I give them no better than a 50/50 shot at beating us.
so 4-4 or 7-1.

Then we come down to the draw of two West teams.
I figure they are going to stick us on the road to NMSU or Idaho in year one. Maybe even both. But if it is only one, the Eagles should win one more right there.

5-4 or 8-1.

I'm hoping we get JMU into the mix in time to get on the schedule for next year so we might go 6-4 or 9-1 on that as we have been ranked above them the last few years.

Who else? ULM? UL? AState? Two games left.
I don't know who would be easier or harder, the all three look tough.

But when I look at common opponents, I don't see any reason to believe we wont line up toe to toe with any of those three and be just as good.

Would I be shocked with a 6-6 record? A little bit. I wouldn't be shocked however to go 8-4 or even 9-3 or even 10-2!

At worse.. 7-5. Time will tell. I might be the shocked one. But show me some evidence that proves we don't look at least equal to those upper level SBC programs right now? I can't find any.

They only arguments we see presented are the struggles that other FCS programs had transitioning to the Sun Belt. But those don't hold much water because not one of them was as prepared as we are for this move, not even Troy. And Troy did pretty dang good did they not?

Duquesne, USA, GaSt, Idaho/NMSU = Wins

Navy and App = Tossups

Everyone else = I will say one or two upsets from this category

That puts us around 6-7 wins. I am optimistic for more wins than that, but 6 or 7 wins would be a solid first year in FBS.

Sure...if you give yourself every toss up win there is.

Here is what I give you

Duquense is a win.

While you certainly have a shot against NC State and Georgia Tech. I don't see you winning either. I think you guys will scare both to death, but the ACC depth and talent will win out in the end.

Navy: Truthfully I forgot about this game. Navy is hard to read. They have at times looked bad against SBC schools, and at other times has been dominant. I have not so fond memories of ASU's trip to Anapolis a few years ago when we got destroyed by the bone and coaching mistakes. This is a Toss Up since its at Navy.

League games:

This is where things get tricky. We truthfully at this point don't know your league schedule. Without knowing who you will play, its hard to guess the results.

We know you guys will host App, and likely play at Georgia State. I give you wins in both, though App is far from a certainty. I am also giving you a win should you play Idaho or NMSU. If you get USA at home, I will give you a win, but a game at Mobile, and any situation against Troy is a toss up.

NC State: Loss
Georgia Tech: Loss
Navy: Toss Up Leaning Navy Win
Duequense: Win
Georgia State: Win
App State: Win
Idaho/NMSU Win

Troy: Toss Up Leaning Troy win
USA: Toss Up Leaning Southern Win

ULL/ASU/ULM/Texas State Will depend on location, but no game is more than a toss up, and a road game would be a likely loss in any location

I guess in theory you could win every toss up and go 10-2. But my guess is that you more likely sit around 5-7, maybe 6-6 depending on who you get at home. I also think that you guys will have more success early in the year than you will late.

Yes, I'm sure K State woke up everyday thinking "Beat the Bison". If you think they spent fall camp preparing for NDSU like they were a Big XII team I have some ocean front property in Arizona to sell you.

Nope. I'm sure they were thinking about how to diffuse that juggernaut at home in week 2

I didn't say that either, but their focus from week 1 to week 2 was much sharper than it would have been if not for the wake up call they received from the Bison.

Again, if the weeks of the games were flipped, I'm not saying it would have definitely been the Cajuns giving them the wake up call and NDSU losing, but I think it's very possible.

Give my prediction now? Without seeing your schedule? Okay...

You're predicting 5-6 wins in conference without knowing who you play, when or where you play them.

I'll put it this way, if you are still around this time next year, and at the rate you're going I have my doubts that you will be, I expect you to be disappointed if you're expecting 7 or 8 wins...

That's good 03-lmfao

Now obviously it all gets less accurate as you go common of common of common of common. But funny.

It really gets funny taken to extremes. But, what we have in many cases are direct comparisons against the same opponent or 1 deep. AKA GSU/NDSU and NDSU/KSU comp. UL/KSU. More accurate is going to be SSU/Troy and SSU/GSU & UL/UF and GSU/UF. OR GSU/Samford comp Samford/GAST and Samford/Arkansas.... then you get Arkansas/UL compared to that. Just a little fun to look at without going to deep or claiming a National Championship. Everything I see tells me we will fair just fine and there is no game in the Sun Belt that we should be afraid of.
