In their defense, they're a school with an enrollment of only 12K students, so 10K isn't quite so bad when you take that into consideration. They not only don't have the numbers on campus, but likewise won't have the numbers from their alumni either. UNT's enrollment is 36K and you had 21K at your season opener (barely over half your enrollment). That's why I'll always have a lot of respect for Rice... Their enrollment is only 6K, and yet they average over 20K for their home games, which is pretty damn impressive.

Plus there's the 800 lb elephant (or in this case Cougar) in the room considering our campuses are only 5 miles apart and the typical Houstonian feels more of a connection to UH than Rice for obvious reasons.

Still, Rice has impressive attendance for their size.

A history of playing in the SWC (from 1918-1996) , a Heisman Trophy winner (Doak Walker), Hall of Fame players (Walker & Eric Dickerson), and a few National Title (1935, 1981&82 if you overlook the cheating)... make 10K in attendance embarrassing. Your comment on Rice just makes their attendance more embarrassing.

RE: Rank the Texas 12
Here's mine:

1. Baylor (2-0)- nobody has stopped this offense yet, and the defense looks much improved this year. This team is scary good.

2. Texas A&M (2-0)- A&M will beat Bama this wek. But Manziel's antics will eventually take a toll on this team
3. TCU (1-1)- not so easy win over an FCS team. Better than T Tech.
4. Texas Tech (2-0)- easy win over an FCS team. But very over-rated.
5. Texas (1-1)- bad loss to BYU on national TV.
6. Rice (0-1)- bye week. Better team than most people think
7. UTSA (1-1) - Yep. You read this right. Very well coached team. Very good offense. CUSA teams must score at least 30 points to beat these guys.
8. Houston (2-0)- good second half against Temple. But so what?
9. SMU (1-1)- ugly win over a VERY good FCS team. Sure, 10K sucks, but this poll isn't about attendance.
10. Texas State (2-0)- much better than most people think.
11 North Texas (1-1)- Seems competitive, but still too many unknowns.
12. UTEP (0-1)- lost at home to the team UTSA beat on the road last week. Admittedly, I was disappointed last night.

UTSA was down 42-7 after 3 quarters. Those 28 garbage points in the 4th quarter are clouding your logic.

Texas State is 2-0, but needed 6 turnovers to beat a bad Southern Miss team in Week 1. Their offense only managed 215 yards of total offense in that game. Yesterday they beat Prairie View. Texas State hasn't played a decent team yet. Lets see how many points Texas Tech hangs on them this week.

Attendance doesn't factor into this poll for SMU. Squeaking out a win over an FCS team does.

Just can't agree with your views on college football in Texas.

You've gotta really suck to be 13th in a 12-team poll. Sadly, the Miners have earned it.

There were more than that. I have no clue how we reported 10k in attendance. There were 10k on the west side of the stadium alone.

Regarding:

UTSA - The Roadrunners rolled up over 500 yards and 35 points of offense against the 13th ranked team in the country. That's very real. In fact, with a little luck, UTSA could have had a couple of other scores in the 1st half. UTSA acquitted themselves nicely yesterday.

Texas State - But they DID WIN. Both games. And that's what matters.

SMU - Montana State is a well-coached, FCS, perennial powerhouse. In fact, I've lost track of the number of NC's MSU has won. Point is, there's not a team in CUSA that wouldn't consider a win over Montana State a "quality" win.
