Polls are fun but its still all about Game Day still....Dave Campbells Texas Football (a Texans HS and college football Bible) looks a tad more accurate if one goes by these kind of things plus...they seem to be more aware of each school's talent base since they ranked many of them in their magazine each year.

A lot better. I'd probably put SMU over both NT and Houston though, they looked pretty good vs Texas Tech.

Of course, Dave Campbells staff probably knows more of each school's talent base, key FBS transfers now elgible, key RS frosh now adding their talents to all of our teams this Fall since they have been ranking those Texas HS products since they were probably juniors in HS.

It's still mostly a crap shoot, though, and I suppose that's why they still play all this out on Game Day?07-coffee3

I'm not sure I agree. They couldn't pull it off against a walkon QB and rookie coach and lost by 18 points. They're right where they should be for now.

Please tell me how you look good giving up 4 TDs in the 2nd half & 41 points in a game. Appears their wheels came off.07-coffee3

The same way Rice looked good despite losing by 21 and giving up 52 points? It was a four point game going into the 4th quarter. Not to mention the fact that SMU won a bowl game last season. NT and UH are coming off bad seasons...beating Idaho and an FCS team doesnt warrant jumping SMU over imo.

Winning a bowl game last year and who did what last year has nothing to do with this year. Your opinion is just that, your opinion.

Of course previous seasons matter. Team's don't go from bad to great overnight. And yeah its just my opinion, don't think I ever said it was more than that.

What does it take to bite the bullet and fire him? Is that how SMU will use your BCS money from this AQ season?

RE: DFW Sports Day Best In Texas College Poll
I don't see how anyone putting any thought into it could put TXST ahead of UTSA.

1) UTSA defeated TXST the last game of last year. Did the Bobcats suddenly improve more than UTSA improved since the end of last year? What justification is there for moving them ahead of UTSA?

2) UTSA just defeated UNM. UNM defeated TXST handily last year.

No justification, other than lack of reseach, to have TXST ahead of UTSA. And I like TXST, and think they will be in upper half of Sun Belt.

We need to see UTEP play a game before we know where to rank them.

I don't think we should be above Houston or SMU unless they both start 0-4 or something. SMU lost to Tech by 18, it's not like they lost to an FCS school. Houston ran for like 15 yards a carry against us last year en route to a dominant victory. Both Houston & SMU have killed us in head to head recruiting battles the last four years. As far as how we stack up against UTSA, TX STATE & UTEP, who knows it's only been one week.

pff.... what do you mean? Houston beat a school that mattered nothing in their fcs conference and smu was beat by an average b12 team. If anything, utsa and unt should be ranked better than them
